The river as a phenomenon of the city creates important parallels between man and nature since ancient times. City as primarily human settlement had a huge impact on the morphology of the river and the nature of the surrounding biotopes. Thanks to strong gradual urbanization in the city, natural ecosystems especially habitats of river floodplains and floodplain forests are disappearing or they disappeared. The city does not have to be only about strictly defined one’s position of designing, but may seek a certain harmony between the penetration of wild nature into the contemporary city with a vision of sustainability.
