The origins of the Champs-Élysées can be traced to 1640 when space was cleared to plant a line of trees. The name translates to “Elysian Fields” from the Greek mythology, meaning resting place of Greek gods and dead heroes. Rue des Colonnes street is one of the rare examples of French Revolution urbanism. It served as model for the creation of the rue de Rivoli, open in the early 19th century. The Church of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul is a church in the 10th arrondissement of Paris that gives its name to the Quartier Saint-Vincent-de-Paul around it.
