IPL 2018-Bowlers turn it around for RCB, Mumbai Indians lose by 14 runs In 31st match of Vivo IPL 2018, chasing 168, Mumbai Indians lost by 14 runs to Royal Challengers Banglore, at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.RCB now climb to the 5th position in VIVO IPL points table

In the 31st match of the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018, Mumbai's inning derailed just after the start and the batsmen couldn't bring it on track after that. RCB pulled up a great show with the ball this time and it did turn the fortunes for the team as they climbed to the 5th spot in VIVO IPL points table. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals and Mumbai had no answer to RCB's bowling attack. Mumbai desperately needed a partnership and RCB was denying it to them. With most of the top order gone much was left on Pandya brothers. Mumbai was in recovery mode as Pandya brothers stuck to the crease to build the much-needed partnership.Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan opened for Mumbai.


Tim Southee opened the bowling for RCB and Yadav hits a boundary on the third ball. A chance of an edge came on the 5th ball but Yadav was dropped at slips by Vohra. Southee made the first strike in the next ball as the ball swung and hit the stumps, Kishan was back to the pavilion. JP Duminy came next and Yadav managed good line and length despite that he was hit for a boundary on the 4th ball. The second over ended with a boundary. Southee bowled the third over adn Duminy hit a classic cover drive on the second ball. Mumbai Indians were 21/1 after 3 overs. Suryakumar Yadav 9(8) and JP Duminy (9) were at the strike.Yadav got the back to back success on the first two balls of the 4th over. Suryakumar Yadav was LBW and Captain Rohit Sharma was dismissed on a golden duck. Keiron Pollard came to bat and Umesh Yadav maintained the pressure on the batsmen. Mohammed Siraj came for the 5th over and Mumbai Indians batsmen let the over pass in singles and doubles.Yuzuvendra Chahal came to bowl the 7th over and conceded 7 runs of which 1 run came from bat while 6 extra (wide) runs. Siraj continued from the other end and took the wicket of mighty Pollard of the first ball. Mumbai Indians were in deep trouble as top 4 batsmen got out cheaply. As the pitch was spinning Virat Kohli asked Washington Sundar to bowl the 10th over but Hardik Pandya had different plans as he hit a six and four to collect 15 runs of the over. Chahal came to bowl the 11th over and put the lid on run flow as he conceded only 3 runs. The major worry for RCB was run the other end. At last Colin de Grandhomme came to bowl 12th over and gave only 4 runs and the overproduced the wicket of Duminy. After the end of the 12th over Mumbai Indians were 84 for the loss of 5 wickets with Hardik Pandya (25 runs off 9 balls) and Krunal Pandya on the crease.Chahal came to bowl the 13th over of the innings and conceded 8 runs as he went wicket-less of his 4 over despite turning the ball square. Grandhomme continued from the other end and a wide ball went for four but he pulled back brilliantly to concede only 3 runs of the last 5 balls. The Mumbai Indians needed a brilliant partnership from Pandya brothers as the required run-rate jumped to over 11 runs per over. Umesh Yadav came to bowl the 15th over and gave only 6 runs as required run-rate jumped to 12.4 runs per over. Grandhomme came to bowl the 16th over and Krunal greeted him with a six over mid-wicket, a much need strike by Krunal. Siraj came to bowl the 17th over and conceded only 6 runs of the first 5 balls but Hardik hit the last ball for four to bring the run-rate down to less than 12 runs per over. Tim Southee came to bowl the 18th over and Krunal tried to score a maximum of the first ball but managed to get only a single. Grandhomme fielded brilliantly to save 3 runs for RCB as Hardik hit a brilliant shot down the ground. Southee bowled brilliantly to concede only 5 runs. Siraj came to bowl the penultimate over and took the wicket of Krunal of the 3rd ball of the over to break the 56 runs partnership. Hardik took a single off the 5th ball to complete his fifty. Siraj bowled brilliantly to concede only 5 runs as MI needed 25 runs off the last over of the innings. Southee to came to bowl the last over and took the wicket of Hardik Pandya. In the first over Manan Vohra and Quinton de Kock opened the batting for RCB and JP Duminy came for the bowling for MI. Vohra slog-sweep and hit a six towards deep backward square on the second ball of the over. Mitchell McClenaghan came for the second over and RCB batsmen managed just two singles off it. Jasprit Bumrah came in with the ball in the third over, the batsmen rotated strike thrice. After 3 overs, RCB were 11/0. Manan Vohra 9 (12) and Quinton de Kock 2(6) were on strike.Duminy came for the fourth over and Manan Vohra smashed back to back sixes and fours. The run rate and team score saw a sudden jump in the over. Mitchell McClenaghan bowled the fifth one and de Kock hit a boundary after three dot balls. Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma took a brilliant catch on the last ball of the over as he wrapped the ball under his fingers before it touched the ground. De Kock had to depart, Brendon McCullum replaced him. Krunal Pandya came for the 6th over and RCB got 5 runs from it. Hardik Pandya came to bowl the 10th over and Kohli took a risky single. McCullum hit two consecutive sixes to bring the momentum back in the RCB’s way and McCullum slapped the 4th ball for four in the cover region. Hardik conceded 20 runs in his first over. Krunal came to bowl the 11th over of the innings and Kohli welcomed him with an inside-out four over the cover. Krunal Pulled it back brilliantly and gave away only 5 runs in the remaining 5 balls. Markande came to bowl the 12th over and Kohli hit the first ball straight down the ground for four. McCullum too joined the party and hit two consecutive boundaries to end the over.After the end of the 12th over RCB were 104 for 2 with Virat (16 runs off 12 balls) and McCullum (32 runs off 17 balls) at the crease.Krunal continued from the other end and Kohli hit the 2nd ball for six after no run of the first over. Bumrah came to bowl the 17th over and gave only 3 runs before Mandeep hit the 4th ball of the over for 6 over mid-wicket. Bumrah conceded 10 runs in his 3rd over. Hardik came to bowl the 18th over and gave a double blow to RCB as he took the wicket of Mandeep and Virat Kohli of the first two balls. Washington Sundar and Colin de Grandhomme two new batsmen on the crease. Hardik took the wicket of Sundar of the last ball to the over. A match changing over by Hardik as he gave away only 2 runs and took 3 wickets. Bumrah continued from the other end and bowled brilliantly to concede only 2 runs and took 1 wicket to end his full quota of overs. McClenaghan came to bowl the last over of the innings conceded Grandhomme ensured that RCB go past 150 runs. Grandhomme hit two consecutive sixes off the last ball to bring a respectable total of 167.
