YUKON Few places in the world today have been so unchanged over the course of time. Aboriginal people, having eked out survival for thousands of years, hunt and trap as they always have. The Klondike Gold Rush of 1898 was the Yukon’s high point of population. Beaver Creek has a population of approximately 100 individuals made up of Upper Tanana speaking people whose traditional territory extends from the Donjek River into neighboring Alaska. Whitehorse is the capital of the Yukon. It is nestled on the banks of the region’s famed “River of Gold.” Its role as a transportation hub and headquarters for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police cemented its place in history.
OUR CRUISE BEGINS Prior to the 1750s, Glacier Bay did not exist. When the ice retreated, a new landscape emerged. At the head of tranquil fjords, skyscraper-sized chunks of blue ice slide down the face of towering glaciers. As you glide through sparkling fjords, you will see marine wildlife and listen to the informative commentary of our park ranger staff. Ketchikan is Alaska’s “First Town” and is a noted mecca for sport fishing enthusiasts, history buffs, and mavens of authentic native culture. It also boasts Misty Fjords National Monument, one of the most beautiful places in the world.

The Holland America Zuiderdam is one of Holland America’s four Vista-class cruise ships.
