Live export: perseverance and progress
This year marked the 10-year anniversary of an ABC Four Corners exposé that is credited with fundamentally changing the way we relate to animals.
That Four Corners episode, ‘A Bloody Business’, revealed the shocking results of our first-ever live export investigation in Indonesia, the images – of Australian cattle in slaughterhouses – which are forever etched into our national psyche. One such image, of a beautiful black steer – Tommy – who stood trembling as he watched his pen mates slaughtered around him, opened countless hearts.
