Diegetic and Non-Diegetic Sound

Diegetic soundIs ďƒ˜ sound that occurs in a film that is natural.

These sounds include doors opening and closing, dialogue, footsteps, music that comes from radios in the film or played on musical instruments, tyres screeching, thunderstorms and explosions .

Any sound that is generated by actions or actually happens in the development of the film is Diegetic sound. Non-Diegetic Sound  Is sound that is added to the film

during the editing phase.  These sounds include:


Songs and Music that are added to the film.

Sounds added as special effects, mainly in slapstick drama.
