THE ECHOS OF THE RUINS EXPERENTIAL MUSEUM KULDHARA,RAJASTHAN VIII SEMESTER
Kuldhara was abandoned for about 300 years. Most people have no idea as to when the village came up and where the people of the village went, once the Paliwals deserted Kuldhara. The Rajasthan Government advertises this place as a haunted site, because it makes for a fascinating narrative, with Γ’€œchudail walksΓ’€? that are organised into the village at night. Kuldhara sees 22000 visitors a year, but few of them actually understand the ruins. The local people too do not seem to know much about the place, just that it was where the Paliwal Bramhins(also called the Paliwalas, as they came from Pali near Jodhpur)lived at one point of time. The history of the people and the place seems to have been lost in time. This Thesis Project tries to bring light to the history of the place, along with the other narratives that exist within the site. The strongest connect that the people have to Kuldhara are the various folklores that are associated with the village. In a place like Rajasthan, this connect seems almost sacred. This project looks at an intervention that acts as a periscope to the history, the folklores and the legends of Kuldhara. The architectre seks to highlight what is left behind after a prosperous town vanishes into nothing; what a user group who have no memory of what was, connect to what is. Such a program would have to use its context, both physical and cultural to communicate what it seeks to say. To achieve such, elements of materiality and an architecture that would be evocative of Kuldhara, and Rajasthan, as a larger context would have to be looked into. It would act as a mediator, to cover the existing gaps in the narratives, between the user and the ruins. The architecture of such an intervention would have to be subtle and minimal, such that the focus is never taken from the ruins, the intervention, at all times acts as a backdrop. Finally, what this project looks to achieve is, essentially, to establish a connection between Kuldhara and the people who visit it.

GURUKULA-LEARNING THROUGH EXPERIENCE ELEMENETARY SCHOOL KOLAR, KARNATAKA VI SEMESTER
Γ’€˜GurukulaΓ’€™ was taken up as an endeavour for the Agastya Foundtion, who believed that architecture could change the schooling system. gu A gurukula was a type of education system in ancient India with shishya living near or with the guru, in the same house. One of the oldest examples of this would have been the ancient Nalanda University. Through multiple books and sources, the architecture of the university was one of the primary influences for this project. The project is defined by the multiple courtyards that intertwine with the built form, with each building sitting on a terraced contour. This would provide children with large green spaces; the building itself a stone construction but with minimal enclosure. The plans itself have no defined spaces for learning, it would change depending on the occupants giving them control of the spaces they inhabit. The building on top also consists of accessible terraces, that connect one building to the other.
