This project is the evolution of the thesis work which inquiried into an intervention in Lombardy’s prealpine area, in the midst of a landscape that up until now embodies social and economic logics still on hold, yet no more as fundamental as they used to be. The project concern the riqualification of Contrada Bricconi, a rural settlement, currently uninhabited, belonging to the municipality of Oltressenda Alta in Valzurio (950 meters high in Bergamo’s orobie mountains) built between the sixth and seventh century, where it’s growing a new agricoltural and farm holidays activities thanks to the personal initiative of a young 28 years old man, Giacomo Perletti. The oldest part is to be requalified, in order to host some of the previously mentioned activities, by an intervention that would ensure both the preservation and the esteem of the existent facilities. About the new productive settlement, the knowledge grown along the thesis got to optimize the whole project in terms of functionality and economy Actually, the zootechnical complex has been organized in a unique longitudinal volume whose heights change according to the specific function it hosts inside, offering in this way all the advantages of a united structure but also rythme and proportions that deal with the existent buildings. A great item of the project has been the roof treatment which has been finally solved through a mono-pitched roof whose incline dialogues with the mountain morphology; similarly, the material item has been a great critical point to face with as it has been finally declined using no-treated larch wood which oxidating gets into a grey colour that dialogues with the stone of the buildings, the rocky mountain side and the wood all around. The creamery volume embodies a key role into the whole intervent, arising next to an existent building with its same tipology and proportions but using materials and languages of the barn complex.

COAM architecture foundation promoved the competition for the “Sociocultural Center in Reinosa�, aimed to select the best proposal for the construction of a cultural center on the remains of the old municipal market, located in Reinosa Market Square. The site shows up as a groundwork born in the middle of the sorrounding streets ups and down. Project guidelines are very easy and can be summed up according to a sequence of precise operations. First of all the extrusion of the whole base and as consequence the ideal creation of a regular grid as a matrix. Keeping the perimeter accessible and permeable, an empty/full chess finally arises in which the functional destination are organized in three different macro-areas: work, reception and leisure. This choise permites to keep recognizable and separated the single elements identity and spaces whose the main goal is to answer to the molteplicity of needs through spaces that don’t need a defined perimeter but can be changed in a future different development of the center. This thesis inquiries into an intervention in Lombardy’s prealpine area, in the midst of a landscape that up until now embodies social and economic logics still on hold, yet no more as fundamental as they used to be. The choice fell then on a real case of riqualification of the Contrada Bricconi, rural settlement, currently uninhabited, belonging to the municipality of Oltressenda Alta in Valzurio (950 meters high in bergamo’s orobie mountains)built between the sixth and seventh century, where it’s supposed to grow a new agricoltural activities thanks to the personal initiative of a young 28 years old man. The oldest part is to be the object of a requalification, in order to host some of the previously mentioned activities, by an intervention that would ensure both the preservation and the esteem of the existent facilities. For the new productive settlement, it has been decided to pursue a logic of continuity to the principles which stand at the origin of the land, giving a contemporary interpretation in terms of settling criteria, topographic comparison and constructive methodologies. Procedurally speaking, this intervention finds its requirements in a real design simulation, that involves consultation with professionals of both constructive and zootechnic fields of expertise, in order to provide a suitable result in a real life scenario. It also resulted necessary a comparison with paradigms that had to face matters similar to the ones risen in our reference context, identifying a range of recent projects located in the Swiss Alps.

The project concerns to a new dance school in Matosinhos, a peripherical area of Porto across the river and the ocean that guests the important commercial port of the city and the nation. The site is on an large area actually used as a bus deposite, next to the mobile bridge and across the river and the street coming from the city, here carachterized by a really consolidated texture of the settlements. The program calls for practice and study dance rooms, auditorium (with related services), coffee area, offices and private garages. Arising on the perimeter of the area with a patio on the back and a huge free space on the front wher e’s the main entrance, all the functions are entirely disposed at the groundfloor, except for the dance rooms and the library which are at the first in a more private and isolated area; this disposition permits the indipendent use of the auditorium and the bar in case the school was closed. The project arises playing the part of the building and the street connections; in this way, it turns to be entirely walkable on its roofs which stay completely available for all the people: the building embodies together a public and private function, preserving anyway the right privacy to the school customers. The facades in white concrete are cutted by a regular sequence of modular frames. The school part takes place in an indipendent area that, thanks to a vierendeel beam duly extimated, arise from the groundfloor leaving free passage under there.

The project settles in an ex-rail area, nowaday unused, in front of historical Villa Simonetta, actually seat of the music “Scuola Civica�. The program expect to dispose a music-dance-wellness center, able to be used by all the kind of people (not least the music students in front of the site), that could also be a point af aggregation in a not really well-served area of the city. The first inspection in the site offered an interesting suggestion about the project that was the great variety of landscape and scenarios of the city you could have at different high from that point: a sense of complete isolation under the zero level, with the only view of the sky above; a sense of naturality at the groundloor, and finally the feeling to be in an real urban contest on the top of the Scuola Civica, where was possible to enjoy a really complete view of Milan skyline. In this way, project embodies this suggestions in its functional and spatial organization. In the basement a gym, dance and music free rooms with a related relax area, a mediateca, a spa and an auditorium: all the functions linked together in a spatial and visual continuity. The groundfloor is like a great playground with sport fields, openair cinema area and gathering and exhibition point, with the important presence of the main entrance glass volume that, placed in front of the music school, allows to reach the basement. Finally, the huge glass-concrete volume wich elevates on the opposite side is dedicated to the restaurant and bar area offering a great occasion of relax and city skyline enjoying.

The aim of the course was to project a movable and transportable pavillion. My project consisted in a movable and transportable studio for a photographer to be set in every kind of public spavce; the necessities were both to work with artificial and natural light and to expose his work. The concept arises in this sense in a modular and easily assembleable structure with steel beams and pillars and modular knauf panels for floor,roof and walls as well as a modular system of frames and glasses useful to permit the natural light to enter and together expose pictures outside for the public. Constructive and structural aspects have been studied in their specific details and calculations, as well as the trasmittance capabilities of the panels.
