This booklet aims to present design approaches pproaches of eight contemporary architectural firms. By visualizing the design procedures res of different architects with application of one identical pattern, we are able to see diff fferences erences and similarities in each office approach, as well as gain insight to the thinking process rocess hidden behind. Presented here way of visualization takes es us on a road trip with each architect. This idea arose as the design process is like a journey ney on which you might experience bumps, confront different obstacles and choose various ous directions in order to reach your destination. For each office the journey will be slightly ly altered. As one architect will take more time to come up with satisfactory solutions for materialization (for instance Caro va de Venne), other will focus more on technical detailing iling (like Felix Claus), another will rather make his journey by bike to be more environmentally mentally friendly (Marco Vermeulen) and so on. So buckle up and enjoy your journey!

The presented above 8 different road trips have been based on project designs presented by each architect during the course ‘Constructing Architecture’ (7QQ2M0). By participating in each road trip, we are able to gain insight into the complicated process of creating the project from the starting point till the end. As every person is different, the approaches differ in each case. The possibility to have a sneak peek behind closed doors of architecture firms, see the way of thinking and working, is very beneficial for better understanding of the real life situations concerning design process. Important to point out is that there is no one perfect approach or design strategy. As many people there are that many ways of thinking we will find. Crucial for success is to answer the given questions in a smart, thought out way. To make the concept speak for itself and to be persevere in overcoming difficulties in order to reach the goal. Hope you have enjoyed your ride!
