Introduction I’m a Landscape Architect with over 10 years of international experience and Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture. My professional experience includes work in California, UK, Canada and China. ANNA BABICZ

Through the years, my career has been focused on large scale conceptual design, master planning, urban design, neighborhood development and public realm design guidelines. Diverse and international experience allowed me to gain very broad perspective on design and business aspects of the profession. I’m a strong believer in multi-disciplinary approach that includes the ecological, historical, and cultural aspects of the landscape and produces the most robust and meaningful designs. In my work, my goal is to create innovative, imaginative places that incorporate both social and environmental benefits.

Masterplans My work includes public workshops, urban design strategies, precinct design development, detail design development, public realm plans and innovative social sustainability solutions with special focus on storm-water management.

DOCKSIDE GREEN 2014

Sustainable initiatives included the innovative management of on-site energy and resources as part of a “triple bottom line strategy of balancing economy, ecology and the social benefit of the greater community.

FOOT OF LONSDALE 2012

Open space design that focused on the heritage value of the site. Rich with unique shipyard structures, artifacts and details, Concept plan integrated both the old and the new. With high focus on shore remidiation and storm-water circulation and renewal of shore under water life.

TODs High density and rapid transit have to co-exist in any major city looking into the future. Creating socially sustainable enclaves of residential mixed use and commercial developments is a recipe of creating healthy cities and communities.

SAPPERTON GREEN 2014

Exploring concept of “Green Fingers” that infiltrate urban fabric with linear parks which borrow it’s language from winding, small river that hugs new development site to the north. Strong storm water management component.

MARINE GATEWAY 2010

Landmark project for South Vancouver that becomes a welcoming gateway to all arriving to the city from YVR airport. Mixed use development with two major public plazas and outdoor shopping Main Street.

Public Realm The people of cities understand the symbolic, ceremonial, social and political roles of streets, not just those of movement and access. - Allan B. Jacobs, Great Street

CITY OF VANCOUVER PUBLIC REALM DESIGN GUIDELINES 2013 Three distinct neighborhoods of Vancouver with three very distinct and unique Public Realm Plans. From Art focused Mount Pleasant to storm-water oriented Cambie Corridor.

LANSDOWNE VILLAGE WEST BLOCKS TRANSFORMATION STRATEGY 2013 The concept explores opportunities to create exciting pedestrian environment within the commercial mixeduse core to enhance the feel of a vibrant community and sense of place. Connectivity through local street networks is encouraged within the public realm through the use of strong urban design.

CAPILANO VILLAGE CENTRE STREETSCAPE DESIGN GUIDELINES 2014 Unique design exploring innovative approach to shared user streetscape. Inspired by it’s surrounding of North Shore Mountains, this design promotes a concept of a river and canyons translated into very unique and one of a kind design language.

Asia As Design Director in Shanghai, my work was mainly focused on developing project design vision, conceptual design and delivering client presentations. From mega scale to detail design development.

KUNMING BAIJILONG GROUP COMMERCIAL PLAZA PROJECT

Awarded competition for multi-phase development for a shopping mall, city park and gateway feature.Unique approach to blending landscape and architecture

2013

together. Distinct design pattern that reflects natural surroundings and sophisticated landscape of the province.

ZHENGZHOU METROPOLIS HENAN PROVINCE 2013 Mixed use development with strong desire to develop unique and ‘nature inspired’ outdoor shopping theme. Geometric and very deliberate paving patterns mix with organic and soft green islands, providing diverse experience and enhanced sense of being outside.

BENGBU, THE CITY GATEWAY

Creating sense of arrival and city Gateway that

2013

becomes part of bigger grid of city planning. Design concept based on a pearl and local red velvet fabric.

Competitions HOUSE OF FAIRYTAILS DENMARK 2014 Innovative landscape approach for museum building design - put it underground. In the concept each tree represents one fairy tail of the author and creates a “forest of fairy tails.

SHA PO, HONG KONG 2012

The site is deeply connected to the water and affected by it in many ways. Sha Po North will be an integral system of buildings, landscape, people, and the natural systems minimizing its negative impacts on the environment while still offering a high level of amenities and comfort to residents.
