Ipar is a collection of images taken between the 21st and 25th of January 2016 in different parts of the Basque coast, such as Zumaia, Pasaia, Donostia and Itxaspe. It’s not always easy to break up with everyday life and with routine. We live every day like the day before and we don’t always pay attention to what’s going on or what we want to do at the present or at the future. Sometimes we need a break of all of this. Every so often we need to disconnect from our lives to do what really motivates us and makes us truly happy. I discovered a couple of years ago that it’s when I’m travelling and documenting my life through my camera that I actually feel happy and fulfilled. In this context the project Ipar came out. I wanted to share with people my need to escape from the routine and the need to explore the nature and landscapes of this region. Throughout this photographic project, I wanted to create a series of images that manifest my personal vision of this trip; showing those scenes that caught my attention and the landscapes that captivated me. The various images show the calm I felt after walking long hours near the ocean, contemplating its vastness and its overwhelming beauty. However, the images also show the ferocity of the sea crashing against the stunning cliffs. Ipar is a combination of analogue and digital photography. The mixture of all these experiences, thoughts and feelings, have made possible the creation of this project.
