Name: Anna ling Review My self-initiated project will consist of several mediums and experiments between the two pathways I am thinking of doing, Textiles, and 3-D. Trough the project, I will use photography and Photoshop to refine and edit my project, as I learnt in the process of Stage 1. The work I produce will be annotated and evaluated to express my thoughts and ideas. Context My work will be based on the Microscopic view of the human body and its functions. Therefore, my research will include both artistic studies, such as artists that work with the human body, and also the science behind the human body. Research I can borrow books from the library about cells, and see what they look like in a microscopic view. However I would also like to try and get access to Bournemouth University to see if I can borrow the microscopes to get raw footage. I would like to do research on what kind of fabrics and textile will work best for my project, as I am looking for a specific type of materials to achieve the texture. Problem Solving I problem will be how to execute something that is in the body in a realistic way, although artistic and abstract at the same time. To solve this problem, I would need to do many experiments with various mediums, and combine different techniques. To record the development, I will document thought ageing photographs and annotation. Practical Methods and Skills I am interested in dying fabrics and layering them, to create more depth and dimensions. Therefore I would like to try out different inks, paint, markers, to see what kind of mark it makes, and select what mediums are the best for my final outcome. I would like to get access to the microscope to get primary resource. Using photoshop will enhance my photographs, and I would like to try print making to create the effect of the microscopic cells in bright colours. Evaluation and Reflection I will write in my learning journal about my progress, and evaluate what is working and not working. From there, I can narrow what kind of techniques I should focus on. Presentation I would like to have a series of photographs based from a sculpture including
textiles. My context would be concentrated on the display and exhibition of the project, since it contains space.
