PERSONAL STATEMENT
I am an urbanite inspired by the people, culture, and art of place with a passion for design, plants, and welcoming public spaces. I studied landscape architecture because of my interest in natural sciences and artful design. I aspire to use my background and mindset to foster positive community growth and create places that reflect culture and ecologies through holistic, inclusive, and collaborative placemaking processes.

SYSTEMS AND COMMUNITY DESIGN South Side, Syracuse
The story of food is embedded in the complexities of place and intertwined with the history of people. Food draws patterns in the landscape; these processes and practices can be traced through the changing circumstances of time and the movement of people. The project aimed to understand the existing framework of the food system in South Side and highlight local resources that could become opportunities for greater community involvement, education, and job placement.

OFF CAMPUS STUDY Madrid, Spain
I spent the fall semester of the fifth year of my Bachelor's of Landscape Architecture in Madrid, Spain doing an independent design research project. There were curriculum requirements but this was an entirely self directed study experience. I chose Madrid because of my interest in learning more about Spanish culture and because I wanted to become aquainted with this European metropolis through explorations of its diverse barrios and lively public spaces. The project began on campus the previous semester as I read literature to develop my off- campus proposal and experiment with analysis methods. Study Question: How does urban design contribute to the making of place, and how does it influence and shape the activity and culture of the community?
I selected three study sites of different typologies but the following graphics are a small sample of the analysis work I did for only one of these, Gran Via. Gran via is located in the center of Madrid and I chose it as a study site because of how it brings together so many people and connects a variety of urban neighborhoods. SITE PLANNING AND DESIGN DENNINGS POINT Beacon, New York
A peninsula located along the shoreline of the Hudson River in Beacon, New York, Denning's Point is a unique landscape to explore. Architectural remnants of residential, recreational, and industrial uses lay camouflaged within the topography and vegetation of the land. The design process was guided by these palimpsests in order to integrate programmed spaces within the trail network that emphasize the recreational and historic value of place.

STONE QUARRY HILL ART PARK Casanovia, New York Stone Quarry Hill Art Park is located on an impressive hilltop in Casenovia, New York. Expansive views and engaging trails with abundant art and sculptures make this art park a year round experience. The design project was to develop a wayfinding system to enhance the visitor experience around the visitor center. Design inspiration was taken from the site to create landscape structures that would both provide a wayfinding guide for visitors as well as provide another opportunity for furthering interaction with the trail and site.
The Artist Studio is located at the top of the entrance drive next to visitor parking. Its form and a glimpse through its enticing windows makes this building a captivating and curious element in the landscape.

DOWNTOWN WATERFRONT BRATTLEBORO, VERMONT Brattleboro has an artistic and eclectic downtown and the benefit of urban waterfront. The Whetstone Brook is an important and dynamic natural system that could be better incorporated into the urban landscape. The study site of this project is an underused downtown space that lies adjacent to the brook. The sites proximity to other public green spaces make it a valuable asset to the community. The design objective is to to restore and activate this site through ecological restoration and introduce recreation.

PROFESSIONAL WORK
The following examples are projects I worked on while at Saratoga Associates (Saratoga Springs, NY) and Hedstrom Landscape Architecture (Knoxville, TN).
A sample compilation of bare earth and land cover viewshed maps prepared for projects throughout New York. The maps are made using elevation and land cover data in order to determine areas where visual impact of the project is most likely.
The maps are used to determine where field photography should be taken from because ananlysis shows where project visibility is most likely. A comprehensive collection of photos from the field are then sorted through to determine which ones should be used for creating photo simulations. The photosimulations provide an accurate representation of the range of visibility scenarios.

The following AutoCad drawings illustrate detailing. The first is a compilation of plan and section views of a residential tree house structure to be built around an existing tree using the advantages of site topography and a nearby creek to create a playful woodland retreat. The second is from a project at Skidmore College where we were tasked with designing stone walls and signage for the campus entrance.

SKETCHING, PHOTOGRAPHY, AND DIGITAL MEDIA
The following works are explorations of places and ideas using analog and digital media. I enjoy carrying a travel sketchbook and camera to document interesting moments, lighting, and experiment different ways of representation.
