A Glance at the Projects
Cake-It Multi-Lite Stack Instrmnt .XL Handy
Hi, I’m Anna, a fourth year Product Design student at Nottingham Trent University. I am a designer who is motivated by innovation and solving problems. I love the process, from the initial ideas reaching the final outcome. I like to use innovation and creativity to solve problems and create something which makes a lasting impact on its consumer. I believe that product design impacts everything. I spent my placement year working for a company called RCL where I focused on the more technical side of design and built up my ability with technical drawing. I am excited for my career in design to expand.
Major Project Project Brief
To design a product, service and/or system which will promote and appreciate the baking experience. It should make the overall baking activity more accessible and time effective, and to also be space efficient when placed or stored in the kitchen. It should be used as a tool for relaxation for users to enjoy baking with ease, will an element of organisation. The product should have potential to bring users together.
Cake-It had an aim of promoting the baking activity by providing ease, convenience and accessibility. The movement of buying shelfbought cakes has become a concern due to their added chemicals and shelf-prolonging additives. A solution to back away from this idea seemed needed. The process involved a lot of managing around how the process could be made more ‘simple’.
To start of the project, initial sketching along with a lot of modelling was done in order to explore the brief. Primary and secondary research was carried out to find out the existing problems with baking and what could be done to help these issus.

CAKE I T Finally, with a lot of developments made and research carried out, the final design for Cake-It was made.
As you can see, Cake-It is sold in 3 versatile colours. Pastel colours were chosen to subtly fit in with the moder-day kitchen. A silicone strap is used to securely store all parts together.

What’s inside... The product provides a service which includes all equipment needed, packed into one. This Russian-doll-like format creates a space efficient kit, keeping everything together and ready to get out when desired. Each piece is carefully sized to slot into its surrounding parts securely. Starting from the bottom, the pieve includes everything needed: -Scales -Large Mixing Bowl -Smaller Mixing Bowl -Measuring Jug -Utensil Stand -Measuring Spoons -Wooden Spoon -Hand Whisk -Spatula -Sieve -2no Baking Tins -2no Cooling Racks -Cake Board -Storage Tin

? Are You Ready Bakers
From evaluating primary research, it was found early on that a problem which prevents people from baking is the effort and time of getting all the ingredients sorted, which often leads to buying premade cake or boxed cake mix. The Cake-It subscription would be available for the users of the product to conveniently have up to 3 recipe’s ingredients delivered each month to conveniently bake up each cake.

The Cake-It app design features different sections including access to the ‘Cake Feed’, the ability to keep up to date with your specific Cake-It, the ability to access different recipes and also modify your subscription settings. The main goal for this app was to add an element of community to the concept. The app allows users of Cake-It to share their creations and be proud of it, which is was seen as an important aspect of the project from the very start. All in all, Cake-It brings out the good side to baking and what it has to offer.
Multi-Lite Working from Home Adaptable Lighting
Multi-Lite
The Process After carrying out primary and secondary date to find out which concepts would work best to fullfill adabtable, it was quickly decided that a multifunctional light could contribute a lot to the work space.d frosted glass outer creates a feel of class to a working environment.
Concept Simplicity with various functions. The Multi-Lite, in its contemporary style, LED lighting and light weight, can be used for any working environment. With a flick of a switch and a rotation, a full setting light with a soft glare can then be turned into a strong glare on one specific area.
Stack. A home project, inspired by Cake-It, to develop innovative storage containers which allow the Ingredients to be measured in one and stored sufficiently.
Stack.
Stack uses specific measurements for each type of ingredient so that it can by measured/weighed out correctly and stored away sufficiently. Against the measurements in mm, the equivilent in ml of that specific ingredient is also given.
.XL working with Instrmnt to design a table piece time clock which would fit in with their rnge and style.
.XL
Research into the Instrmnt company. Looking at their exisint gwatch desgns, manufacturing methods and material choice.
Through modelling and sketch work, concepts were developed. Research into Instrmnt watches and materials were highly considered in the process in order to design the perfect collaboration.
.XL
.XL Instrmnt .XL carries on the minimalist and classy look brought from the Instrmnt watches. Instrmnt .XL is made from a high quality white marble base with a stainlesssteel face coverage and sapphire crystal glass clock face. From the style that Instrmnt were inspired by, volt/ ammeters, this is subtly carried on with the shape of the battery pack which works well to keep the simplistic look.
Project Brief To Design an accessible, easy to use product which will provide hand grip for people who suffer with arthritis or other joints problems in the hands so that they can pursue easily with their day to day activities. This product will provide independence for the user by providing assistance with their struggles. The product will be specifically designed to be used outside of the house and not fit to be used on any specific type or brand of product, it should therefore be portable to carry around during the day. To reduce difficulty and stress and benefit their life at ease. To be used in a way which the user will get used to and be able to continue with their life at a benefit.
Here shows my final prototype, after experimenting with materials, shapes and also existing products. The final model uses a rubber insert with its ABS Frame to adapt to Arthritis Sufferers on a daily basis.
Handy has been designed to tackle problems with grip strength, designed in particular for the sufferers of Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Handy provides a rubber grip surface which is able to loosen bottle tops, door knobs, taps, tubs and more. A bottom feature has also been added to provide a carrier bag handle for when Handy is out in use and needed.
