Spring 2014
Dear runners, You, of all people, know the importance of proper hydration and ample nutrition—you need it to train, run 5Ks, and finish marathons. You appreciate the relief of cold water after a long run and the satisfaction of dinner after a big race. And you, of all people, know how devastating it would be to be deprived of these necessities. As runners, now you have the opportunity to provide food and water to those who need it most. With each purchase of Janji’s distinctive running apparel, a portion of proceeds gives food or water to those in developing countries who lack the resources or infrastructure to get it on their own. Join our movement and run for another,

Peru collection
As is the case in many developing countries around the world, Peruvians suffer from inadequate nutrition. Despite recent economic growth within the country, 30% of Peruvian children still suffer from chronic malnutrition, with the number being even higher in rural areas of the Southern Andes. This puts children at a developmental disadvantage—leaving them stunted, both mentally and physically. Each purchase from the Peru line provides relief to the children of Peru who need it most. Not only does Janji’s Haiti Line help fight malnutrition, but it also supports local Haitian communities. The added jobs fight poverty, one of the main main factors of maluntrition. Each piece of apparel provides 8 days of nutritional medicine to a child in Haiti through our partner organization, Meds & Food for Kids. Images courtesy of Meds & Food for Kids.

Mike (left) and Dave, Janji’s co-founders
The Janji Story On the way to the 2010 Division iii Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Mike and Dave had an idea: what if they could connect runners around the globe to solve one of the world’s most serious problems? By the time they came home from the track meet, Janji was born. Mike and Dave knew runners like themselves were charitable. But they saw that philanthropic running only begins—and unfortunately ends—on race day. They want Janji to change that. Through Janji’s high performance and distinct-looking running apparel, runners can fund solutions and raise awareness for the global food and water crisis in a meaningful and lasting way. Now, rather than racing just one day for a cause, runners can give back through everyday training. Janji’s goal is to create a community dedicated to running for another. That was Mike and Dave’s goal on that bus, and that’s what Janji will always be about.
