CONCEPT

LIVING ROOM

The concept for this design is to create a fresh, clean atmosphere in one of Lubbock’s oldest buildings. Through the use of modern classic pieces within an industrial contemporary setting, this space will be transformed into a simple and comfortable environment. Open floor plans and abundant natural lighting will be two key elements used to achieve this urban space. These upscale condos will suit the needs of everyone from trendy young professionals to hip retirees.

CARILLON SENIOR LIVING || LUBBOCK, TEXAS PROJECT STATEMENT

Students were to revamp the fourth floor of the Carillon Senior Living Center. The dĂŠcor of the floor was outdated and the building manager wished to create better living quarters, dining areas, and gathering areas for the residents and their guests. The focus was to create more comfortable and private rooms, that utilized the gathering areas in newer ways, by designing more inviting dining and communal areas.

COLOR AND MATERIALS

CONCEPT

STUDIO APARTMENT || LUBBOCK, TEXAS COLORS AND MATERIALS

PROJECT STATEMENT

Students were to design a studio apartment for a college graduate. This project was developed completely on SketchUp. Students were given certain criteria for the studio apartment and then were free to design the interior space.

CONCEPT

The cool analogous color scheme found in the inspiration photograph allows several design relationships and correlations throughout the interior space. Focusing on greens and blues, the interior space provides a calm and soothing background for the flow of patterns and textures used in various fabrics. They provide fun options without becoming too overwhelming. The interior elements exhibit a traditional home with some vintage features.

ORGANIZATIONAL DIAGRAMS

NEXT UNIVERSITY || VIRGINIA PROJECT STATEMENT

Students were given a set of plans and requirements for a hypothetical university. “Next University” is required to have a Student Cafe, Faculty Hub, In- Between Learning Spaces, and classrooms. Students proposed a concept and reinforced it throughout their design of the interior space. This project was sponsored by Steelcase as a student competition and students were to use Steelcase exclusively in their design.

CONCEPT

A computer chip is a central element to a computer just like a student is a fundamental part of a university. By incorporating the geometric shapes and hard features of a computer chip, the space will flow as a circuit flows through a chip without interruption. This emphasizes the architectural design of the area. Similar to a computer chip, the interior space will be efficient so that there is no wasted space. Resembling the multi-use of a computer chip, the design will also have versatile areas. By integrating all of these features, the design will stream through the interiors as it produces an operational space for the students at “Next University”.
