ANTI-BULLY POSTER
This poster is about the issue of bullying. The concept was to represent how it feels for a youth to be a bullying victim, mainly lonely and in despair. My goal was to draw out empathy from the viewer. This project began when i participated in a poster design workshop led by graphic designer, Justin Kemerling. We were challenged to create a poster with a concept we came up with during the workshop. We worked on our process skills in brainstorming, selecting, and realizing one of many solutions for this project.

HUMAN RIGHTS STAMP
i was given the challenge of designing a stamp with the theme of human rights. According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 25 state, “Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.” I decided to bring attention to food insecurity at it’s one of the violations of Article 25. There are 48,000,000 Americans living in food insecurity meaning they don’t know where their next meal will come from because they don’t have the financial means to access food. i wanted to reach an audience who would be able to reach out to help the food insecure. i chose the apple because it’s a food that is related to health. Giving food is kind of like giving health. i included an empty hand stamp to show that while some of the food insecure receive the help they need, many still go hungry. i discovered an annual program that donates food via the U.S. postal system. i created a poster that would promote this food drive so when customers would come to buy this stamp, they would see this poster and know there’s an easy way to get involved in helping to end hunger.

Food insecurity is defined by the USDA as a lack of access, at times, to enough food or a lack of nutritionally adequate food for a healthy and active lifestyle. 48 million Americans lived in food insecure homes in 2014, spanning every county across the United States, affecting the young and the old. But there is hope. You can learn how to help at feedingamerica.org

July 27
Experienced Walk for Life in DC
This graph is a representation of my life up to the middle of September 2015. Each dot represents a day in my life. July 27th is marked because it’s my birthday. Each line of dots represents a year. The larger, different colored dots represent events that were influential in my life. Positive events move the line a step up and Negative events move the line down a step. The distance between the lines can be a representation of how much i grew or didn’t grow as a person after each year due to the events that occured in my life.
NEBRASKA INFOGRAPHIC
An Infographic discussing blood donation in Nebraska. I was given the task to imagine a day without ____________ in Nebraska. Being a blood donor myself, I was interested in the data on blood donation. Also, I believe blood donation is often a forgotten topic or something people just don't know enough about. The goal of this infographic is to inform the public about all that encompasses blood donation. By doing this, I hope to inspire someone to become a donor too!
BOX OF JOY
You wouldn't believe it at first glance, but this project started with a little research into Mr. Rogers and his philosophy. I was challenged to create a box that communicated Mr. Rogers's philosophy. I wanted to create something that spoke to how Mr. Rogers wanted to bring joy to others every day. A smile is a simple expression of joy. I decided to create a box covered in patterns of smiles to hopefully make others smile. The patterns you see above were taken from the photos of the corresponding pictures below. Each side of the box has a different pattern that is unique just like each person's smile is unique. I hope this project brings a smile to your face as well.
Each side of the box features a pattern based on the smile of a different person.
AIR FILTER POSTER
The environment isn’t in great shape and destruction of forests doesn’t help. This poster is to bring awareness to care for trees because they are our natural air filters. The more mature a tree becomes, the greater amount of pollution it’s able to remove from the air. As the fact on the poster says, a mature tree absorbs 70% more air pollution than a newly planted tree. A fully matured tree can absorb up to 1 ton of carbon dioxide during its lifetime. How’s that for an air filter?
I went in with a small pixel eraser in Photoshop in order to get the tree branches to come through convincingly
TYPEFACE DESIGN
A
t present, this is the first and only typeface I’ve designed. With a feeling that’s whimsical, slightly organic, and light, i present to you FairlyTale. The FairlyTale typeface is not complete as you can see. Only the captitals have been designed. I plan to improve upon the captitals and design the rest of the lowercase letters as well as numbers and common glyphs.

PRINT/WEB ARTICLE
This is an article designed for print and web, discussing Responsive Web Design. The design of the print article is based on the design of The New York Times Magazine’s design specifications. The QR code is an element I decided on because of its relation to both print and web. We understand the QR code to connect us from a printed code to a web page. The QR code is scanned by mobile phones which brings the meaning of Responsive Web Design into this design. The website continues the theme of the QR code, keeping the same title page image as the print article.

DANCING GEOMETRY
Can geometry evoke emotion? I’ve focused on a hypothesis that states geometry can evoke emotion by imitating movement of the human body. In dance we understand that a form in motion can evoke an emotion. By analyzing the geometry and motion of the human body in dance, I hope to reveal that geometry has the ability to bring about a feeling of happiness, sadness, or anger. One of the biggest aspects of this video project is image schema theory which states that we employ our bodily experiences as a basis for conceiving and describing abstract concepts. I worked with two dancers who choreographed three dances. Each of the three dances depict one of three emotions: happiness, sadness, or anger. The geometry you see in the video mimics each of the dances meant to specifically evoke each of those emotions. My design inspiration for this project comes from the Bauhaus which believed in using simple geometric form, line, and color to create beautiful designs. The triangle, circle, and square along with the three primary colors: red, blue, and yellow, are used to imitate the Bauhaus ideology of beauty and power in simplicity.
