As we all know, blueberries are one of the healthiest foods around but did you know they also have these lesser known benefits?

EYE SIGHT Improves vision and to protect against age-related eye degeneration. In our environment of using screens on a daily basis, this could be one of our regular snacks for the table

COGNITIVE FUNCTION The antioxidant protection in blueberries may reduce your risk of age-related conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease

LOW GI Blueberries have a low GI which means the slow release of natural sugars will not spike your insulin levels but give you an energy boost throughout the day to keep you feeling good and avoiding the energy slumps

WEIGHT LOSS Low in fat — they have approximately 80 calories per cup and practically fat-free. Blueberries are loaded with fibre to keep you fuller for longer

1 Cucumber, sliced 1/4 cup-3/4 cup Almond milk 3 Mint leaves Handful of Almonds 1 Avocado 1 cup ice

INGREDIENTS 2 small cups of rolled oats 1.5 small cup of mixed seeds of your choice Squeeze of honey Dried fruit of your choice Nuts & seeds for extra crunch

METHOD Add the oats, seeds and dried fruit to a bowl and mix together Add the honey to the mix in the bowl, a little at a time and stir until mix starts binding together Place into an appropriate dish and place in the fridge, and after a few hours it will be firm enough to cut into slices and enjoy!

INGREDIENTS 100g Fresh Raspberries 1/2 Punnet of Fresh Stawberries (sliced) 1 Pint Fizzy Water 100mls No Added Sugar Summer Fruit Squash EXTRA: Ice Lolly Mould

ADD BLUEBERRIES FOR EXTRA ANTIOXIDANTS

METHOD Mash the raspberries and divide equally between ten lolly moulds Fill the moulds up 2/3 of the way with sliced strawberries Pour in the fizzy fruit squash so that it reaches the top of each mould Cover and add the lolly sticks Freeze for a minimum of 2 hours and enjoy!
