“Abstract art may be the best vehicle for triggering memories, since the subject is largely left to the determination of the viewer. With nonobjective paintings, the entire composition can mean something different to each onlooker and each will remember an entirely different memory. Abstract art, at its best, can invoke and provoke unlimited recollections, and it can cause memories to surface which have been long buried.” - Susan Robert

“For the past 25 years, I have either been painting or 'thinking about painting' every day. It is this artful journey that inspires me and keeps me eager to continue the exploration of art and life. I am inspired by everything: the good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly; people, plants, animals and mountains; poetry, politics, science and literature. For an artist, inspiration is everywhere and ideas are like particles of dust all around us. Any idea has the power to invoke as well as provoke. The idea is the thing. - Susan Robert

“I develop my paintings systematically through an additive process of layering acrylic paint mixed with acrylic mediums onto masked areas. I initially establish sets of vertical and horizontal bands, applied to either a square or rectangular format, with function as an armature on which subsequent color shapes are layered. As I paint, I allow shapes to shift in registration in order to reveal varying amounts of underlying color. - Paul Yanko
