EXHIBITION RUNS JANUA
ARY 23RD – FEBRUARY 26TH
CASE BAUMGARTEN Through emotional depiction, I create work that shares our global human likenesses. It was the passing of my father, which led me to integrate the topic of self relations and connectivity on account of profound anguish into my work. This series of figurative abstractions would be called “Feet in the Garden,” which references something unattainable - a never-ending vexatious search for deceased loved ones. The work abstracts images of faith. In doing so, I can engage with my audience’s experience in the struggles that come from deaths trials and tribulations. The pieces’ limited presentation of color suspends moments of familiarity in helplessness. In that which is left behind, in spaces vacated indefinitely, is a tumultuous yearn for direction. Astray in spiritual territories, these figures wander, reflecting our personal affair in the rivers current of trauma. I continuously create this work not only for my search for my passed father but for the many who are experiencing their endeavors for lost loved ones.

KOREY GULBRANDSON Artist Statement: I like old things that are marked up and well used, and left alone for natural elements and time to take their course. I find great beauty in the character of a chipped up wall, an eroded coastline, the Grand Canyon from space, or a scratched up dumpster door. I revel in the build up and breakdown of things. Erosion caught at the right time. I impress to create this in my work. Away from done or undone, a timeless beauty in the here and now. The meantime. Korey Gulbrandson was born in Portland, Oregon in 1973. His artistic talents were recognized early when awarded a seven foot toy-stuffed stocking from a local drawing contest. Korey discovered painting later when he happened upon a cachÊ of old oil paints, and found his destiny. Based in Portland for the last two decades Korey’s work has gained significant local popularity and a loyal patronage. His signature self-taught style is a result of remaining continually informed by each of his paintings. Each piece starts with a hand-crafted wood canvas and evolves with an accumulation of layers, manipulating wax and various mediums. Using a torch and carving tools Korey scribes and removes the layers, this technique creates an exciting and surprising plane of texture and color.

CAROLINE BOYKIN Caroline’s work centers around emotional balance within a moment. Elements of architecture and nature combine in multiple mediums to create tension in weight of color and delicacy of subject. The porcelain flowers and butterflies are in full bloom and mid flight, focusing on internal strength and external beauty. The intent is not to be precious but to capture a conversation of movement and life. Caroline obtained a Bachelors of Fine Art from the University of Mississippi with additional time studying in Florence, Italy at Florence University of the Arts and The International School in Innsbruck, Austria. Most recently she made a permanent move to Chester, South Carolina so she can immerse herself in the beauty of natural landscapes and the country life on a daily basis. She has spent the last 20 years enjoying photography as a way to catch the spirit of nature and animals through the lends. She believes that animals are our greatest teachers and healers if only we would observe and listen to them.
