THE SITE “Barrio Antiguo� is part of the Metropolitan Area of Monterrey; the zone consists of a set of buildings from different periods and economic, social and cultural contexts. Which it reflects much of the history of Nuevo Leon, where restoration and improvements in different areas considered cultural heritage , which mostly has a vernacular architecture with neoclassical influences suggests.

DESIGN PROCESS

It is a simple and dynamic volumes, which rotates on its own axis with increasing level ; however this angle change becomes not so abrupt allowing the fluidity thereof. Facade mentioned above aims to provide greater sunscreen , not to take in the surrounding views .

ELEVATION & SECTION MAIN FACADE It is an envelope playing with solids and voids in a different way and it is not a facade which is represented as a solid such as the concrete itself . THE SITE

It belonged for a long time the company Philips. Focused in the Industry of lighting equipment manufacturers in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. It was founded in 1962 as Philips Mexicana, SA de C.V. He has been operating 45 years more than normal for a company in Mexico. Located in Prol. Fco I. Madero # 4595 ote . Monterrey, Nuevo Leon . It was one of the major manufacturing plants . The area where it is located in northern responds to middle class housing - high, however on Madero Avenue is focused on commercial buildings, small stores, restaurants , etc. Occupation is housing for families and seniors.

DESIGN PROCESS It focused on finding an algorithm capable of generating an architectural space based on the user connecting to the complex, through the main entrances and patterns of organization (Circulation) within a network of nonlinear workflow . Under this premise, the Voronoi diagram emerged as an interesting alternative because of its representation as fragmented structure ; which help us to generate both public and private spaces for all . The result was a spatial system subdivided according to the density of points and typology.


VORONOI | APLICATIONS Gives Optimal Circulation, Through The Location Of Points And Thus Find The Nearest. In Geometry, Voronoi Diagrams can be used to find the greatest among of a set points, and a polygon inclusion empty circle. Divide the most efficient for each Location is the area that corresponds to its proximity to this Point or Vertex Way. Issues Proximity Poses Problems.

ALGORITHM

The project was develoepd through a complex algorithm using Rhino and his plugging Grasshopper. Most of the aspect were parametrized all the systems paremeters of the Voronoi.

The project consists of 3 volumes located considering the main flows and densities. The volume is located at the bottom of this apartment has 6 levels: *The first level of this volume is intended for businesses. *The volumes that are ahead are the offices and hotel. The office has 8 levels and the hotel with 12 . *The three volumes are connected with the Landscape in which green areas, lakes and living spaces where people can move and reach these are generated , giving more unity to the project.

SUSTAINABLE QUALITIES On the ground of access around all buildings have green areas and lakes which create a much more pleasant environment for pedestrians . The lakes are translucent so that through these can have natural lighting in the underground parking.

DESIGN PROCESS The concept is based on a protein called "bacteriorhodopsin" which is a proton pump which captures light energy, which emits a purple color. By observing the molecular structure of the protein it led to the idea that this could be adapted to a semi spherical shape imitating the aforementioned structure. Hall contain a protein sample which will be explained using pictures that are within this. The pavilion is structured by heptagons bronze metal, which symbolize the seven transmembrane alpha helices, which form the three chains of amino acids that make up protein. These three strands are represented by two accesses and a skylight at the top. The entrance at the top of the pavilion is of utmost importance as it is the main source of light, which in the protein looking absorb to emit the color purple, this effect will be represented by a skylight at the top of the building creating the effect of irradiation and the generation of color space.
