columbus metropolitan library driving park branch project overview Project Size: approx. 15,000 sq. ft. Location: Columbus, Ohio The Driving Park Library branch will be located at the corner of Livingston Avenue and Kelton Avenue. The neighborhood was also home to a grandstand and racetrack frequented by WW1 flying ace and race car driver Eddie Rickenbacker during the early 1900’s. Staying true to the neighborhood and its roots, formal gestures of the interior architecture connect to this history by way of form. The central ‘core’ of the building consists of an enclosed quiet room reading sanctuary and in which the rest of the building program circulates. The Main Collection, Kid’s Space, Teen Zone and Life Skills areas are located along the front face of the building permitting neighborhood exposure to the daily happenings inside. The large conference rooms, staff areas, and maintenance areas area located along the backside of the building.

the ohio state university - wooster replacement agricultural sciences bldg. project overview Project Size: approx. 40,000 sq. ft. Location: Wooster, Ohio The new Agricultural and Sciences building will replace the original which was severely damaged by a tornado in 2012. The new two story building will serve as a hub for the Wooster campus in regards to the innovative research pertaining to food within the agricultural industry. The new facility will also serve as a catalyst between both OSU and USDA researchers. Two floors will house a large high-bay space, state of the art research laboratories, open officing for graduate student researchers, open collaboration spaces, private officing for staff, conference rooms, and staff lounges.

Location: Battlecreek, Michigan The Outpatient Clinic located in Battlecreek, Michigan is a new two story building housing numerous departments for patient care, including Radiology, Hematology Lab, Walk-In Clinic, Sleep Center, Physical / Occupational Therapy, Women’s Health Clinic, and Pharmacy. There are two large, open waiting areas to accommodate patients and their families while waiting to be seen, in addition to a cafe with an outdoor terrace.

slvhcs replacement medical center project research building project overview Project Size: approx. 60,000 sq. ft. Location: New Orleans, Louisiana Within the 1.5 million sq. ft. SLVHCS Replacement Medical Center Campus, there are two historical buildings that will be renovated and used for both Administrative and Research purposes. The Dixie Brewery is one of these historical buildings, which is a 100 year old New Orleans landmark notable for its corbelled red brick, arched windows and iconic metal dome. A portion of the building will be restored and reused as part of the Research facility, housing administrative support space adjacent to a new addition, which will house laboratories on the second and third floors, in addition to the animal vivarium located on the fourth floor.

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana The Southern Louisiana Veteran’s Healthcare System Replacement Medical Center Project is a result of the devastation the Medical Center and greater city of New Orleans experienced after Hurricane Katrina. The new medical center is located in the heart of New Orleans, and will serve over 500,000 veteran patients annually. A Central Concourse serves as a connector for the Diagnostic and Treatment Building, Inpatient Beds, Outpatient Clinics, Transitional Living and Rehabilitation, Patient/Visitor Parking Garage, Staff Parking Garage, Administration (Pan Am Building), Research/ Dixie Brewery, and the Central Energy Plant. The vision of the new Medical Center is to “honor veterans and their families, be a model for the healthcare of the future, respect the neighborhoods, authentically reflect the culture of the region, and lastly, be the cornerstone for the emerging biosciencs industry in New Orleans.”

kazanka riverfront masterplan schematic design animation personal project experience / RESPONSIBILITIES »» Development of schematic design animation based on Master of Fine Arts Graduate Thesis. »» Utilizing a sktechup model of the masterplan, completed professional renderings, precedent imagery, textual descriptions, and music, I compiled the information into a cohesive animation utilizing Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro. »» The intent of the animation was to help the client understand the full context of the Riverfront Masterplan proposal. By incorporating precedent imagery, relevant textual descriptions, and Russian music with static 2D renderings and Sketch-Up model of the city, they were able to fully appreciate the bridge between the existing city and their culture with the new ideas set forth by the masterplan. »» I produced two animations for this client, one in English, and the other in Russian in collaboration with a colleague fluent in Russian.

osu wexner medical center art program project overview Project Size: approx. 1.5 million sq. ft. Location: Columbus, Ohio The new OSU Wexner Medical Center (Architect of Record: HOK) boasts 21 floors dispursed amongst 1.5 million square feet. The Vision of the new Medical Center is to ‘shape the future of medicine by creating, disseminating, and applying new knowledge, and by personalizing health care to meet the needs of each individual’. With this statement in mind, and the rigor presented by both the architecture team and the client, we developed a strategy in collaboration with Lendrum Fine Art (of Los Angeles, CA) to develop an Art Program for the new facility. The Art Program will blur the lines between art, architecture, education, research and patientcare, and the ultimate goal - to inspire, energize, and comfort the patients and staff. A team of twelve individuals from OSU Medical Center, HOK, and members of the Columbus community formed the Art Program Committee who worked closely with us to identify local and international artisans for the new facility.
