Current capital of Makhachkala is constrained between mountains and sea and has no more space to develope. That’s why there is a need for a new city-satellite that might become an official capital in the future.
New Caspian City is to become a gateway to the region, offer world-class sporting venues and resorts, provide education for all, celebrate faith, and will instill a sense of national and cultural pride. Translation during visit on site, meeting with locan ministers and businesmen. Work on options for city masterplan and some of the buildings.

Artist’s impression
If you look on London from above, you see many roofs without use. In some areas roofs occupy more space than streets. In my project I planned to transform them into a continuous landscape of public and private open spaces: parks, open-air cafes, gardens, urban farms, sport grounds.

Reel of Octopuses London-Paris Explore new urbanism ideas December 2009 MA Project Bartlett UCL
Most existing cities grew in all directions; as a result their residential areas spread for miles, making access to city centres and nature alike complicated. In this project I proposed a linear city connecting London to Paris following the Eurostar line. General scheme
The line would be punctuated by hill-towers about 1 km tall connected to the surrounding landscape via sinuous snaking walkways. I used the analogy of ‘’octopuses’’ and ‘’tentacles’’ repectively. A tube station would be installed below the centre of each tower, and each fifth tower would have a high speed train station.

The Ruhr, Germany’s past Industrial centre, has exhausted it’s natural resourses and needs to be converted into something else. Our site was a village above a former mine with a crack caused by subsidence. Instead of trying to remove it, we used it to create a unique urban space.

We created opportunities for exploring the space in three dimensions: we provided bridges with steps leading from existing flats to a small private gardens and introduced a new multilevel residential development.
