Hierarchy 1 Font: Frutiger LT Title-led / Author-led Title and author in same line, same sized but to show hierarchy different font thickness is used. Composition is quite consistent . 3 Font: Frutiger LT Title-led Tried making the title look more avantgarde / diverse by changing one of the words possition into more dynamic.

2 Font: Frutiger LT Title-led / Author-led This one is opposite of first example, so title’s spacing is disstinctive to author’s. 4 Font: Frutiger LT Title-led / Author-led As it’s quite prominent to make title type thicker than author yet I tried to combine both into one block, but as a result it didn’t work because of composition. 2

5 Font: Frutiger LT Title-led / Author-led This is the one of simplest i did for this topic, though it looks dull and too static. 7 Font: Frutiger LT Author-led One of the most succesful outcomes in which dynamic

6 Font: Frutiger LT Author-led Tried doing a bold response, but positioning didn’t work with large scalled type. 8 Font: Frutiger LT Title-led Base is the author so hierarchy stays pretty clear even though title is the first in the view.

Hierarchy continued 9 Font: Frutiger LT Title-led / Author-led Positioning makes hierarchy clearer otherwise title and author has same significance. 11 Font: Frutiger LT Title-led First thing that attracts attention is the title with it’s extraordinary way. It might seem at first that smaller letters are in random order but that’s what in makes it exceptional and reminiscent that you have to figure it out how to read. 4

10 Font: Frutiger LT Title-led / Author-led Tried making a double effect dublicating title and author. 12 Font: Frutiger LT Author-led Left positioning, loud and clear.

13 Font: Frutiger LT Author-led Scale goes from bigger (more important) to smallest (less important) even if it’s really simple it has nice look to it. 15 Font: Frutiger LT Title-led / Author-led Text goes in circle order forming a square.Even it looks more title- led because of font size it’s equally title and author- led.

14 Font: Frutiger LT Title-led / Author-led Author brings first look/attention then view goes to tittle which has bizarre look to it - word string is smaller than the rest it creates kinda dynamical feel to it.

Page sectioning 1 Font: Frutiger LT Title forms a strong corner to support the rest. Sub title theres left more space to keep clear structure. 3 Font: Frutiger LT Visual and culture are different scales to make it look like more spatial.

2 Font: Frutiger LT Quite bold and simple layout, size of title shouts out and half-sized sub-title is the second point. 4 Font: Frutiger LT Everything is in similar size/thickness but layout clears up everything.

Page sectioning continued 5 Font: Frutiger LT Spacing in title represents the idea of visual culture better than others it has cleaner look to it. 7 Font: Frutiger LT Reflection with different directions to make it more peculiar.

6 Font: Frutiger LT Sub-title is inserted into title to make it equally important by not just making it same-sized or with same thickness. 8 Font: Frutiger LT Less important information layout reminds of stairs which point to the most important - title and sub-title.

9 Font: Frutiger LT Used same spacing as in example number 5 just in different composition, I didn’t work as well as previous one. 11 Font: Frutiger LT Layout forms a frame from larger and smaller sized text from different corners.

10 Font: Frutiger LT Centralized composition with most important information in the middle and other at the sides. 12 Font: Frutiger LT This one is mostly about sizes of typefaces which goes in gradual order as significance goes.

Tracking & Kerning 1 Font: Frutiger LT It wasn’t difficult to make and equal spacing between my name and surname letters because they were pretty equal at first. And so letter numbers are the same so putting in reflective position makes it look good.

2 Font: Frutiger LT Started changing gaps so that letter’s ends would reach each other but the word wouldn’t look too strange.

3 Font: Frutiger LT Changed the position of reflection, turned out easier than the second example.

4 Font: Frutiger LT In the last one number faces the same side as surname and email faces same side as name. Kept tweeking surname spacing to get the best result.

10

Layout & Composition

Font: Frutiger LT Used 9 colum and 11,4pt grids, left side text is facing left and right faces right to create more original newer look to menu’s that we are used to look at. 11

12

Font: Frutiger LT Used orange the colour that can relate to italian cuisine. Cover and back composition is simple as it appears that whats inside matters more.

13

Optimising Blocks of Text

Font: Frutiger LT Really simple and plain, as the brief does require to optimise block of text. 14

1

Font: Frutiger LT This one took more time than the first, to make it look more consistant. Used smaller size and put it to left lower corner to make it look more minimal. 15

2

Font: Frutiger LT Left more space above, so kept tweeking with text boxes that they would be equal-sized. 16

Names and Numbers 1 Font: Frutiger LT In first outcome it was mostly to experiment with shapes, coloring, shading and using simple layout. It seems a bit too crowded.

2 Font: Frutiger LT This one looks more succesful but still requires more changes to have that real finished look.

3 Font: Frutiger LT From style it looks like it’s a different version of second example, but it’s more interesting and diverse.

4 Font: Frutiger LT In this one layout of numbers remind of chess table pattern, and used shading make it look 3D-like which I find quite intriguing.

18

TV Guide Layout Design Font: Frutiger LT Used 4 column and basic 12pt grid, times, names, descriptions in different styles - roman, light and italic. Chose to make gaps between shows with descriptions and those which had none. Even if it’s pretty clear in my opinion it could be a bit uncomfortable when used. 19
