Facts • The first use of barcodes was to label roadrail cars. • The first commercial barcode scanning was in 1974 in Troy at Ohio Marsh’s supermarket and the product was Wrigley’s double mint gum. • Norman Joseph Woodland and Bernard Silver began working on the first barcodes in 1948. • There are two types of barcodes, one Linear barcode and the second one 2D barcode
