Godparents must be fully initiated members of the Catholic Church (having received the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist), and provide a sponsor certificate. A minimum of six months is needed for marriage preparations. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA): An ongoing process of formation for those who ever wonder if they should become “Catholic”.
