Kevin’s Catch Barcrusher Tasmania Adventure FCV620 Showing Trout & Atlantic Salmon just off the bottom
50 Khz
Brown Trout
On a recent trip to Tasmania's Central Highlands in the midst of winter we found our FURUNO FCV 620 to be a great asset to our Bar crusher 530C With water temperatures as low as 1.7 degrees C and as high as 3.5 degrees C you did not want to fall in these icy lakes, but we knew that the trout that we had come to catch would be active with these water temps. After putting on all the warm clothes we could muster we set off to find the structure that these fish love to hide in. We found that the recently released Atlantic brood stock, Salmon and Natural Brown Trout stood out in schools on our FURUNO. Within the structure, these arches excited us no end and we continued to troll these areas with great results. The FURUNO’S detailed pictures enabled us to use lures that got us down to where the fish were. . I find that with the experience I am gaining with my FURUNO FCV 620 my catch rates are increasing . Regards & tight lines Kevin Smith Hobart, Tasmania
FCV 620 Sounder Description • 1st I would like to point out that the
620 is running 50 Khz which is normally for deep water so it shows with the Digital receivers you can work in all depths! 200Khz would have shown a better bottom & Fish image in these depths . • 2nd Check out the Temp & Kevin has 620 in Full Auto mode this also shows you that you can get great results when running in Auto ! Auto allows you to get your head around the sounder and once you master the Auto mode switch to Manual mode this way you can Manually adjust your Gain or sensitivity to your liking! You can run FCV 620 & FCV 585 in Auto Range & Manual Gain this is the best as you still have control of you sounder.

Blades of Glory It pays to keep your ear to the ground. And have a good sounder or two on board the boat............................. On a recent bi-annual trip down Mexico way, over the border in Mallacoota we were confronted with some shut down fish that refused to play ball. Having been in February this year and come off a 50 fish a day habit, were were shattered to find the 100’s of Black Bream we normally cast lures at refused to play ball. 1 day passed, 3 days passed and then we were getting desperate. Fishing with a mate who just has to have all the latest bream gear and lure ever made, we tied on the Ecogear VX40 blades and started searching the deeper water. Even though we saw fish in the shallow margins, the just did not want to play. Out a bit deeper, find the batfish on the sounder and working the surface and cast.
CAST, SINK , RETRIEVE with a HOP, HOP and SLAM
Moral of the story is take the kitchen sink with you just in case. What has worked for years may not work all the time or else you may have to sheepishly borrow a few lures from your mates and have a good sounder. My boat uses a Furuno 4100 attached to the electric and a Furuno 600L on the back.
