A merger at Odelia Grey’s law firm has put her job in jeopardy, and her new icy-cold boss, Erica Mayfield, has it in for her. The humiliation doubles when Erica dumps her three-year-old niece with Odelia and disappears for the weekend. The nerve! Primed for a confrontation, Odelia impulsively goes to her boss’s house in the middle of the night—and finds Erica’s sister murdered. Before she knows it, Odelia’s madcap misadventure to prove her own innocence ends up in a cuddly cradle of crime. Praise for the Odelia Grey Mystery Series: “A priceless series . . . a real treat for chick-lit fans who like feisty women.”— Library Journal (starred review) “Plus-size reading pleasure. Try this one on!”—Lee Child, New York Times bestselling author of Die Trying “Bodacious . . . wickedly satisfying.”—Publishers Weekly.

Reviews I've been a dedicated reader of the Odelia Grey series for a few years, so much so that picking up the latest mystery feels like revisiting old friends I haven't

seen in a while. This book is my favorite so far, because it shows a lot of character and relationship development for Odelia and Greg when a young child enters their life. The office politics are ratcheted way up, as "corpse magnet" Odelia copes with not having her old boss Steele to, well, boss her around. Instead, she has the ultimate mean girl, who dumps her young niece with a horrified Odelia, but her heart is melted as fast as you can say "Cheesehead Squirrel" (the girl's nickname for Odelia). This is a fast-paced, exciting mystery that kept me guessing, as always, and tugged at my own heartstrings. Odelia is as gutsy, stubborn and outspoken as ever, but she also shows a new side of herself that reminds me why I am a fan of this series in the first place, because it's not just about murders, but about love and family and how far people will go in the name of them (and yes, sometimes that includes murder). An excellent read, and if you're new to the series, you can start with this one, though I'd recommend reading my way through the Odelia Grey series from the beginning. ================================================== his is the latest in a wonderful mystery series and the best yet! Odelia Grey is someone we'd all like to know in real life, and, as this story starts off, she's having a hard time at work. The law firm where she works has undergone more change than endurable, and it feels like the last straw when her boss callously disrespects her and takes advantage of her. Odelia is flabbergasted when the woman who is her boss demands that Odelia take care of the woman's niece. The little girl is only 3 and shows signs of neglect. Odelia has a big heart and, even though the little girl is a burden at first (Odelia must watch after her while still tending to her work duties), Odelia soon grows fond of her. Odelia's relationship with the little girl is a big part of this story and very endearing. Awkward at first, Odelia gradually, and often comically, figures out how to look after this sweet little girl. Another element of the story is a new employee at the law firm who becomes Odelia's rival. This guy comes on as "the cocky competitor" causing Odelia anxiety over her job and eventually suspicion as the mystery progresses. But what I love about Odelia is that she never lets anyone get under her skin. She is always lots of fun but also kind of tough. She makes the best of life.
