EDITOR’S LETTER Glory Magazine’s mission for our May 2017 issue is to promote love and kindness by highlighting our inspirational and philanthropic cover star, Lady Gaga, as she stands beside the LGBTQ community with her charity, The Born This Way Foundation and her new #ShareKindness campaign. I have looked up to Lady Gaga for many years, and she has helped me immensely throughout her career in music as she has promoted strong messages of love and acceptance through her music such as “Born This Way,” “Hair,” and many more. Growing up, I always felt that there was not a strong message within mainstream media, music and even publishing that we were all born this way and that individuality should be celebrated on a large scale. In 2011, at the age of 15, I listened to Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” album and accompanying music video and felt liberated as a celebrated and popular artist was promoting a message that the community needed in order to move forward. For that message to be spread on radio and to hit #1 on the Billboard charts was a huge step forward for the community, and I cannot thank Lady Gaga enough for helping LGBTQ youth and beyond. This, amongst many other reasons, is why I chose her to cover our May 2017 issue as I believe she is a strong ally of the LGBTQ community and an inspiration to so many individuals that may have felt alone and found solace through her music. This issue will highlight her visit to the Ali Forney Center benefitting homeless LGBTQ youth, her new #1 album that marks a new change within her career, her charity “The Born This Way Foundation” along with her #ShareKindness campaign and her new commercial for Revlon promoting love. Also within our May 2017 issue, we will be discussing political happenings, celebrity gossip, Gigi Gorgeous’ new documentary and rise to YouTube stardom, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Erika Jayne as she releases her new single and music video and so much more. Glory Magazine seeks to represent the LGBTQ community within the newsstands and to promote a more inclusive environment as many magazines often dedicate entirely separate publications for certain communities. Our love for the community is represented within each page of this issue, and I hope that you all enjoy our content as it is truly created with that same love we are speaking of. -Anthony Raso

JOANNE Back in new form with a stunning album featuring bold and imperative messages of love and freedom, Lady Gaga showcases the side of her that may have been hidden beneath those iconic costumes. By: Anthony Raso
“I’m not flawless, but I’ve got a Diamond Heart” Lady Gaga shouts within the opening track which cements the message throughout “Joanne,” an album that we may not have expected her to create in the first place. An album named after her late aunt, Gaga is truly singing from her heart. The album explores an array of personal and emotional heartaches that we can all relate to as human beings such as the devastation over a love lost (Million Reasons), the loss of a loved one (Joanne), the perplexity of garnering feelings for the wrong guy (Perfect Illusion), or the outcries of love and acceptance that need to take place within politics and beyond to avoid further destruction (Angel Down). This album, representative of the true Stefani, may have been the album Gaga was born to make. Rating: 5/5 Purchase ($16.99):

ERIKA JAYNE “XXPEN$IVE”
With 9 #1 Billboard Dance Club singles to her credit, performing at gay nightclubs all over the world, being a staple on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and a new contestant competing on “Dancing With The Stars,” Erika Jayne spreads a fierce message through her new single and video that leading a luxe life and having no apologies while doing so is the key to being truly “XXPEN$IVE” in every way. Real Housewife of Beverly Hills by day and gay nightclub-performing pop star by night, Erika Jayne, has just released her new music video “XXPEN$IVE” to provide us with a sense of how fabulous and “expensive” her lifestyle truly is! Paying homage to the ideology of mega-smash “Rich Girl” by Gwen Stefani, the music video is filled with a plush, 80’s-themed bedroom filled with money, a bathtub scene with Erika dripping in diamonds, fabulous choreography and a dance break that will leave you speechless and begging for more.
After teasing the track with a performance on Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens Live!” and behind-the-scenes footage on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, fans were eager to hear the track in full and also to view the overthe-top visual for the song! “It’s expensive to be me, looking this good don’t come for free” Erika Jayne purrs in a hot pink bodysuit and matching knee-high leather boots as she breaks into a split along with her backup dancers. The video is as fierce as Erika Jayne, and the track is also a representation of selfempowerment and a bold statement that living your best life as the best version of yourself is key, no matter how expensive it may be! 9
Erika Jayne currently holds a record of 9 #1 singles on the Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart including hits such as “PAINKILLR” and “Crazy,” and there is no doubt that this track may be her tenth! As Erika describes the song as “over-the-top, fabulous and fun” herself, this track has the power to allow others to feel this exact feeling as they are dancing and living freely with no boundaries placed upon them. Check out the video below, and be sure to request the track to your DJ’s as it will have the entire venue in an abundance of “YAS” moments!

THE LOVE ISSUE LADY GAGA With a new #1 Billboard album, filming a new movie as lead actress alongside Bradley Cooper, performing at the Superbowl and gearing up for a world tour, Lady Gaga showcases that her philanthropy and love for the LGBTQ community reigns supreme as she finds the time in her busy schedule to invest in volunteer work at the Ali Forney Center, creating “The Love Project” for Revlon and making strides toward full equality with her own charity, “The Born This Way Foundation.” By: Anthony Raso

From the very beginning of Lady Gaga’s impactful career, the pop star has consistently showcased a message of acceptance and freedom within yourself and spreading that strong and important message throughout the community in order for love to move forward in an imperative way. Ever since the young, platinum blonde pop rebel with a lightning bolt painted on her face (paying homage to the late David Bowie) stepped onto the scene in 2008 with her #1 Billboard smash “Just Dance,” many doubted the singer’s longevity as she was different than any other singer showcased on radio at that time. Her debut album “The Fame” created a new sound that influenced many other artists that followed, with traces of euro-pop and dance music laced within each track that was not shown within the mainstream impacting the music industry in a big way. Less than 10 years into her star-studded career as a pop star who stands strong with the LGBTQ community as a fierce ally, she has accomplished more than any artist can ever dream of. Since her iconic debut, an abundance of #1 singles and albums have followed which cement her place within pop culture. Among those successful singles, a track titled “Born This Way,” created a strong message throughout our society that was extremely needed at the time. In 2011, suicide rates within the LGBTQ Community were at an all-time high, and many did not have a message of love and acceptance within the community and many young LGBTQ individuals did not feel safe. With Lady Gaga’s messages blasting through the mainstream, it gave many individuals hope for a bright future and she ultimately served as an ally that many young people found solace in listening to her music. Recently, she visited the Ali Forney Center in New York whom provide housing for homeless LGBTQ youth, has spoken at many political rallies demonstrating our need for change, has created her very own charity titled “The Born This Way Foundation,” and has created a love campaign for Revlon. She is a strong ally of the community, and I personally believe she has saved many lives of LGBTQ youth whom may have felt alone. 13

With a hot, new single about her breakup and the announcement of a brand new studio album coming this year through her very own record label, Mariah Carey is here to let us know that she is back and better than ever. By: Anthony Raso Brought to you by:

On the finale episode of Mariah Carey’s hit docu-series “Mariah’s World,” Carey was seen recording her new single “I Don’t” in the studio while taking off her 20-Carat, $10 million dollar ring given to her by now ex-fiancé, billionaire James Packer. The two have since broken up, and Carey is making their split clear in her new music video for her single “I Don’t” featuring YG as she throws part of her actual wedding dress (intended to be worn on their wedding day) into a burning fire. The new single marks a creative step for Carey who hasn’t released new music since 2015’s “Infinity.” The R&B-laced track, written by Carey and produced by Jermaine Dupri and BryanMichael Cox, is a break-up anthem where the singer explains her lack of trust and regret for almost marrying someone she shouldn’t have been with in the first place. “Said you would always be mine, feeding me nothing but lies” the singer purrs as she lays in a Rolls-Royce with her wedding attire on a rainy night.
The singer has recently announced the creation of her very own record label under Epic Records, titled Butterfly MC Records, and will release a new studio album this year! This will be the singer’s newest studio album since 2014’s “Me. I Am Mariah, The Elusive Chanteuse,” featuring tracks such as “Beautiful,” “You’re Mine (Eternal),” and “Thirsty.” The singer may implement a new sound within her music and go toward a more pop-leaning direction as she has done in the past with albums such as “E=MC2.” Either way, Carey has never been one to chase trends and has written and produced an abundance of hits throughout her star-studded career. She holds the record for the most #1 singles amongst any solo artist with 18 #1’s to her credit and is considered one of the best-selling female artists in history. While you wait for Mariah Carey’s new album, check out her new music video below and make sure to purchase the track on iTunes!

THE LOVE ISSUE Ever since Lady Gaga’s bold debut on the music scene, she stood out as a pop star that was not afraid to be daring and different than her peers which cemented her strong message of individuality through her work. A few years later with the release of “Born This Way,” she made an even stronger statement and dedicated her career to representing the LGBTQ community in a strong way. By: Anthony Raso

ith Lady Gaga’s recent visit to the Ali Forney Center, a shelter located in New
York for homeless LGBTQ youth, she has displayed yet another act of love through her work and her fight to #ShareKindness throughout our world. According to the Ali Forney Center, LGBTQ youth are eight times more likely to experience homelessness, with many community members being kicked out of their homes for not being accepted by their family members. Another crushing statistic is that over 640,000 LGBTQ youth experience homelessness in America. Lady Gaga’s #ShareKindness campaign is her effort to spread love throughout the community to inspire one million acts of kindness, and she recently visited the Ali Forney Center in order to share her campaign with members at the shelter. Upon her visit, she surprised LGBTQ youth members at the shelter with an abundance of gifts including clothing, electronics, beauty products and more to help them lead a happier and healthier life without their families. She explains that kindness is the cure to violence and hatred, and if we promote kindness on a mainstream level, that our world may become a better and more accepting place to live. When she entered the shelter, many members ran into her warm embrace, crying as they have looked up to this woman for years and have found solace in her music when they felt that there was no hope. She explains that many of these members are not only homeless, they are trauma survivors as they had to endure violence and hatred throughout the majority of their lives. They have been rejected from their peers and have struggled with their own identities, and many of the members explained to Lady Gaga that when they were facing hard times, they would play her music in order to feel better and her music helped them immensely as they were fighting for peace surrounding them and also within themselves.

Lady Gaga was raped at the age of 19, and it took her 7 years to tell anyone as she was afraid people would judge her. With the release of her latest single “Till It Happens To You,” she sings “Till it happens to you, you won’t know how I feel.” This is a strong message to all trauma survivors that even though your peers may not know how you felt through that pain, it is okay and we are all united as one as many of us have faced hatred, violence and pain. Upon her visit, Lady Gaga and the members of the Ali Forney center sat in a circle and talked about their pain and how it has severely impacted their lives. Lady Gaga provides advice to the members at the shelter, stating that meditation has helped her immensely and that even though she may not know the pain that LGBTQ youth have faced in particular, she can stand beside them as she knows the struggle of fighting for survival and freedom. She opened up to the young individuals about her mental illness, stating that she suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from the pain she faced at the age of 19. Before her meeting with the children, she has never told anyone that and she explained that she feels comfortable with them as they know what it is like to struggle on a daily basis.
“Those of us who have, should give to those who have not” –Lady Gaga “You are brave, you are courageous” Lady Gaga says as her and the children talk about their experiences. She explains that her mission to visit the members at the shelter was to remind these children suffering from abandonment that they are not alone and that they are loved. She says that she is no better than any of those kids, and they are all equal and in this together to fight for freedom and kindness. We are suffering from war, famine, and young, innocent children being thrown out of their homes for simply being who they are and not wanting to hide from the outside world. Lady Gaga herself has displayed a message of challenging the outside world and living in rebellion without fear from critics, remaining unapologetic throughout each phase of her star-studded career in music. Through her debut album “The Fame” which challenged the idea of fame and introduced a new sound that many other artists are influenced by to her new album “Joanne,” a more alternative sound that still challenges the mainstream music many hear on Top 40 radio at this very moment. She has donned several shocking outfits that are still fresh in our memories and will last throughout popular culture, and this ideology of wanting to stand out and remaining unique is the message that the community also represents as they have not been accepted by the mainstream. In many ways, Lady Gaga’s career shadows the community, as we are simply being ourselves while LGBTQ representation through the mainstream is becoming increasingly popular.
