Tiny Marked 2 Bru Jeune Bébé - Lavish Wardrobe & Provenance. Genevieve, All Original Tiny Bébé Bru Jeune-Lavish Trousseau & Detailed History. A dream come true! This petite Bebe, only 11 inches, is graced with an elaborate trunk filled with eight costumes, white wear, significant provenance & history dating back to 1888 in Paris. The tiny marked 2 Bébé is in exceptional original condition. She remained with the Clarke family for over 100 years and has a letter penned by a family descendant in 1988. Presented in 1888 to her little owner, six year old Genevieve Clarke, there is additional history including photographs, a journal and receipts. Genevieve Clarke grew up to become a nun and ultimately became a mother superior and educator in America. The doll was eventually placed in a small museum that Mother Genevieve oversaw. When the museum closed the doll and the Clarke family belongings were sent to Genevieve’s cousin. Her Journal is fascinating and the rich history of this little Bébé is so rare and dear. Journey for a New Year

he journey down the road to learning more about antique and vintage dolls is filled with twists and turns and unexpected dividends. Sometimes these surprises are in the nature of learning something fascinating or stumbling onto and recognizing an obscure doll you've recently been studying. I well remember the first time I walked into a doll museum and knew what I was looking at in the display case. The many months of pouring through reference books and examining dolls at shows had finally begun to coalesce in my mind. The thrill of realizing that the puzzle pieces were beginning to come together and take shape was very gratifying. I had gone from thinking all antique bisque dolls looked alike to recognizing the individuality of each maker or period. It has been said that "knowledge is its own reward," but in doll collecting knowledge provides many rewards. Sometimes the surprise in the journey is finding a special doll that you never thought you would be able to add to your collection. As a child, I longed to collect antique dolls but really thought it was a hobby for millionaires. How could a "regular working person" ever acquire these pieces of art and history? The Quest (continued from page 12) pushing this basically shy person out into a broader world than she would ever have imagined being involved in. Learning not only how to interact with new people but also developing technological skills, business acumen, and the ability to keep growing in new directions. All because of doll collecting. But perhaps the best and most unexpected twist in the path has been the unexpected dividend of the many friendships that have developed with other collectors.

Over the past 45 years of collecting, I have met countless fellow doll-collecting enthusiasts. There have been mentors and study partners. Book Review Review by Laurie McGill Series by Jessie Burton:

The Miniaturist The House of Fortune

ecently I traveled to Amsterdam, and while there I visited the Rijksmuseum where Petronella Oortman’s dollhouse is on view in Room 2.20. The dollhouse, circa 1686 - c. 1710, is a magnificent example of the cabinet dollhouses popular in The Netherlands during the 17th century. Just prior to my visit, I serendipitously discovered art historian, Amsterdam-born Alette Fleischer, an online seminar presenter for Context Learning, and she gave an outstanding Zoom presentation this past May for members of the United Federation of Doll Clubs, as well as dollhouse aficionados and art historians from the United States and Europe. Antique DOLL Collector magazine’s January 2023 issue will carry an article by Dr. Alette Fleischer, ”17th Century Dutch Dollhouses: A Lady’s Domain of Small-Scale Splendor.” We felt a review of Jessie Burton’s two novels inspired by the Dutch dollhouse in the Rijksmuseum would serve as an introduction. Ms. Burton’s book, The Miniaturist (Ecco, 2014, U.S.) was inspired by Petronella Oortman’s dollhouse. Ms. Burton was in Amsterdam on holiday when she saw the cabinet dollhouse at the Rijksmuseum. She remarked, “…I started thinking about it [the dollhouse] in a novelistic way, and it quickly became such a rich source of inspiration.” Burton continued, “What fascinated me was the distance between us and the tiny world of the dolls’ house—it reflects us, but we can never penetrate it.” (USA Today interview 8/29/2014) It took Ms. Burton four years to complete The Miniaturist, a story set in the Dutch Golden Age—1686 The Netherlands—and by 2016, the book had sold over 1 million copies in 37 countries. The BBC debuted a threepart adaptation of the novel in late 2017, and the series aired in the United States in 2018 on PBS’ Masterpiece. The Miniaturist is full of mystery and suspense, and the story is centered around the Oortman dollhouse. The imaginative book—a gem of historical fiction—is difficult to put down. Now, Jessie Burton, has come out with a sequel to The Miniaturist. The House of Fortune continues the story of Nella Oortman, the protagonist in The Miniaturist. Set almost 20 years after The Miniaturist, The House of Fortune takes the reader back to enchanting Amsterdam, where Nella’s niece, Thea Brandt, is coming of age. Like Nella, Thea is expected to marry well in society to better her family’s financial situation.

In The Miniaturist, newlywed Nella’s husband, gives her a cabinet dollhouse, a miniature version of the home in which they live on the Herengracht, one of Amsterdam’s canals. Nella furnishes the cabinet house by ordering small objects from a local miniaturist. The miniaturist mysteriously knows secrets about Nella’s new family, however, and the intrigue begins. Dolls in the likenesses of people within the canal house begin to appear at Nella’s door. The House of Fortune returns to the beautiful canal house. The mysterious miniaturist makes a reappearance, this time sending her tiny, intriguing interpretations of real life to Thea…a figure of a man—a doll—holding an empty artist’s palette, for example. The storyline is fast paced, and at once both sinister and suspenseful like its predecessor; and again, it is a book difficult to put down. The book covers of the UK editions lean more toward the dollhouse theme and are works of art unto themselves. Auction News The fall doll auction season yielded some delightful results.

Withington Auction PRAISE IZANNAH Our friends at Withington’s report exciting results from their sale of the Carol Corson Collection, including a 15” boy doll made by Izannah Walker in Rhode Island in the 19th C. The John Thayer doll fetched $73,000. See the collection of Withington results below. Reporting on Withington’s auction of Carol Corson ‘s extraordinary collection, Marcia Leizure recalled a Doll Collectors of America gathering from years ago: “Carol Corson wrote extensively about the iconic dolls of Izannah Walker, indeed she coined the phrase ‘Three-Dimensional Folk Art Paintings’ to describe them in an article she wrote for Antique DOLL Collector magazine in August, 2011 (shown at right). The article, titled “An Izannah Walker Reunion,” was written by Carol to celebrate the gathering of thirty-one Izannahs, from all over the country, at the 75th annual meeting of the Doll Collectors of America. (The group was formed in the 1930s and is dedicated to the study and research of dolls of all kinds.) It was an ideal time to see these early American cloth dolls together, to see the examples of the dolls of every size and variation, to have a dynamic dialog among the doll owners and members of the DCA, and to see actual examples of the earliest, the smallest, the crudest, the unpainted, beside each other…” Carol Corson owned five of the dolls present at the gathering. Among them was a very rare boy, named for his owner, John Thayer, whose portrait hangs in the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Museum at Colonial Williamsburg. Those five Walkers, with their paint-decorated trunks and clothing, were sold along with the entire Carol Corson collection in October. Ohio National Doll Show Review The Total Doll Show Experience The Ohio National Doll Show took place over a perfect fall weekend on October 8th and 9th in Newark, Ohio. The triumphant event, promoted by Gail Lemmon and Billye Harris, was held at its new venue, the beautiful Cherry Valley Hotel and Ohio Event Center, known for its botanical gardens and lively lodge atmosphere. Saturday’s special events included sold-out speaker presentations by Bradley Justice, John Paul Port, Rhoda Wade, and Alan Scott Pate. Each included food, party favors, fabulous door prizes, and lots of fun with friends. In addition, the weekend offered two doll dialogue discussions presented by Cynthia Orgeron and Terry Crawford, and a separate workshop with Carol Noel. On Sunday, show attendees patiently waited in a long line for the ten o’clock opening of the very large and spacious salesroom. Inside, seventy-plus dealers from all over the country excitedly waited to greet their many eager shoppers and friends. Every genre of doll, from modern to antique, at every price point, was well represented. Plus, dealers brought a wide assortment of items, so the show offered attractive buying opportunities for virtually every collector. Ohio National’s own Billye Harris provided appraisals, and Eileen Green of the Intensive Care Doll Hospital offered doll stringing. In addition to their salesroom shopping, collectors signed up for the many silent auction and raffle items presented at the show. All raffle and auction proceeds went to UFDC and to The Olentangy Valley Doll Club of Ohio. The club’s president, Denise Williams, and club members assisted with the show operations. This show was a delightful weekend event bringing the entire doll community together to share its passion. The happy mood in the room was palpable. The Ohio National is a doll show the way they used to be, always filled with excitement, education, and fun. We can hardly wait to discover what is planned for The Ohio National Doll Show 2023. 28

While there is controversy over the true authorship of “A Visit from St. Nicholas” (often known as “Twas the Night Before Christmas”), the facts weigh in favor of Biblical scholar and professor, Clement C. Moore. It is said that Moore wrote the poem to entertain his own children, but a friend, who was at the Moore’s home when he read the poem aloud, took the liberty of sending it to the Troy Sentinel without Moore’s knowledge. The poem was published—uncredited—on December 23, 1823. The poem was not attributed to Moore until 1837, but he did not claim he penned it until 1844, when he included it in a book of poetry. Regardless, the image created of Santa Claus in that poem remains forever engraved on the hearts of the masses.

Thomas Nast (1840-1902)

Bavarian-born American editorial cartoonist/ caricaturist, Thomas Nast, was influential on several levels. He created (or popularized) the political symbols we know today for the Republican (elephant) and the Democratic (donkey) parties. Nast, a staunch Republican, deliberately chose the elephant to symbolize his favored party because he felt it implied greatness of size, dignity, intelligence, and strength. An 1879 edition of Harper’s Weekly shows an early depiction by Nast of both the elephant and the donkey symbolizing the Republican and Democratic parties. But it was the image of Thomas Nast’s “Merry Old Santa Claus,” which appeared in the January 1, 1881 edition of Harper’s Weekly, that best epitomizes the jolly old elf described in Clement C. Moore’s poem.

Using his own likeness for Santa Claus, Nast drew the figure 33 times over the course of his career at Harper’s Weekly (1862-1886). The drawings he produced for Harper’s Weekly during the Civil War years often fell into the propaganda category. Even “Merry Old Santa Claus” hinted of propaganda. Santa’s bag filled with toys is actually an army backpack. He is holding a dress sword with a U.S. belt buckle over his left arm, representing the Army. A pocket watch displays the time of ten until midnight, referencing the United States Senate had very little time left to grant fair wages to the men of the Army and Navy. Nast’s illustration of “Merry Old Santa Claus” is perhaps the best known of his Santa Claus images. It is this rendition of the beloved bringer-of-toys-to-good-little-girls-and boys that is believed to have influenced the design of the first printed cutand-sew cloth doll—the first Santa Claus doll patented and manufactured. 32

Edward S. Peck – The Patriotic Santa Claus Textile

Little is known about E.S. Peck other than his name can be found in a listing of American Antique Doll & Toy Makers as “Edward S. Peck Dolls 1884-1886.” He designed a textile (so-called banner) featuring a Santa Claus set against a snowy hill surrounded by trees. Made in Warwick (Apponaug Village), Rhode Island, circa early 1880s, the textile is marked on the sleigh runner: “Oriental Print Works.” (Oriental Print Works closed in March 1883.) The Santa Claus appears to be inspired by Thomas Nast’s Harper’s Weekly “Merry Old Santa Claus” illustration from 1881. While Nast’s Santa Claus holds his pipe in his right hand, Peck’s Santa holds a cigar or cigarette in his mouth. Both have a pocket watch; both have small swords extending from their belts; both hold dolls of Asian influence and both sport furry hats. Peck’s Santa’s hat has a patriotic red, white and blue fan-type embellishment; Nast’s Santa’s hat bears a sprig of holly. The Santa Claus in the textile is referred to as “The Patriotic Santa Claus” primarily because of the American Flag tucked into his belt and the redwhite-and-blue fan adornment on his hat. Overall the cotton textile measures approximately 23-½ x 17-¾ inches, and on each of its four corners is an illustration depicting scenes that echo the sentiments found in Clement C. Moore’s “A Visit from St. Nicholas”: “Santa Claus is Coming;” “With compliments of Santa Claus;” “All the stockings in the house were hung to be filled by Santa Claus;” and “Santa Claus gave all these toys because we were good girls and boys.” The bottom of the piece is labeled: “Santa Claus”—with a direct quote from Clement C. Moore’s poem. The textile was produced in two color variations—dark coat with blue pants or blue coat with light pants. It could also be special ordered as an advertising promotional piece with a business’ name imprinted on it. An example is pictured in this article labeled “Compliments of Clouch & Hopewell.”

A cut-and-sew printed cloth doll was patented by E. S. Peck on December 28, 1886, using the exact image as found on the textile. The back and the front of the Patriotic Santa Claus doll were the same, only in reverse. The doll is marked “Patent Applied For—Santa Claus Doll” on the sleigh runner instead of Oriental Print Works. Edward S. Peck’s patent stated: “Be it known that I, Edward S. Peck (assignor to the New York Stationery and Envelope Company) of Brooklyn…New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a

Doll for Children…,” Design No. 17,042 read. “The nature of my design…consists of a doll made to represent Santa Claus or St. Nicholas, having a drum depending from one arm, while above the shoulder extends a projection representing the American flag.” The dolls are considered rare now, and they are especially rare when found uncut. An uncut version will have “Make your own Doll. Let every child in the Country HAVE ONE” printed between the two halves. The uncut panel specifies which side of the doll is the “front” and which side of the doll is the “back.” Between the two halves near their boots, the instructions read: “DIRECTIONS FOR MAKING. Cut by dotted lines Sew these two together Stuff with any soft material and DOLL is complete.” 34

When found completed, the dolls are stuffed with a variety of materials, including rags, cotton, or straw. Photographs of little owners with their Peck Santa Claus dolls are rare to find as well, and two are shared here. While researching the E. S. Peck Santa Claus, a discovery was made that World War II’s General George S. Patton owned not only a cloth Peck Santa Claus doll when he was a boy, but he had at least two Arnold Print Works Palmer Cox Brownie dolls. All were displayed in a special exhibit case titled: “Georgie’s Dolls” at the Museum of Leadership in Ft. Knox, Kentucky. The label read: “Patriotic Santa is among the General’s favorite childhood toys.” May the merry legacies of Clement C. Moore, Thomas Nast, and Edward S. Peck live on forever.

Some Very Special Little Dolls A Study of the Miniature and All-Bisque Dolls from the Sandy Kralovetz Collection By Florence Theriault

n the photograph, the celebrated doll collector, Sandy Kralovetz, stands in the garden of her Texas home alongside a life-size statue of a doll. The statue symbolizes the importance of dolls in the Kralovetz home but is also a whimsical juxtaposition to one special category of dolls in her vast connoisseur collection, the group known simply as “the little ones.” Collectors refer to little dolls by many different names. Mignonettes, miniature dolls, dolls that fit in the palm of the hand, and dolls 12 inches or smaller are just a few of the names. The Kralovetz collection includes the rarest of the rare in dolls: There are all-bisque French mignonettes, whimsical bisque character dolls, and the so-very-rare tiny sizes of the classic French bébés with kid or composition bodies from makers including Bru, Thuillier, Gaultier, Steiner, and Jumeau. They range in size from 2 inches-12 inches and are equally sought for the beauty of their face or the rarity of their body style or painting. Although miniature dolls have existed for centuries, made of various materials ranging from wood to cloth to terra cotta, the miniature doll that was “born” in the 1875 era was different. The all-bisque articulated doll was a realistic little child with a real wig and glass eyes, fully articulated, able to be dressed and undressed, a veritable tiny model of its child owner. Illustrations of these little treasures in the Paris Etrennes catalogs bear testimony to that, and, in 1878, a notice in La Poupée Modele, the popular children’s magazine even gave a name to these dolls, poupées de poche, a name that is as appropriate as it is alliterative. A little doll that fits in your pocket. One that can easily travel along with you. A doll for a bigger doll. A size that means you can always find room for another. Until you begin a search for a particular doll or a particular type of doll, you are often unaware of its rarity. Such is the case with all-bisque dolls. What is their enchantment? Their diminutive size – so precious to cradle, so easy to display, so able to always find room for another? Is it their costuming? Their posture? The faces – with exquisite detail of the painting, or whimsical character expressions? Or is it simply the miracle that, given their tiny posable size, some still exist? If we conclude that any all-bisque doll in good condition is rare, it is also true that some are rarer than others. Here are some rarity or value factors to consider when choosing an allbisque doll. Size. Rarity concerning size varies from model to model, although generally, it is rare to find any model over 8 inches. Large models of the 1880-era all-bisques are extremely rare. Construction. Rarity factors in this category can include swivel neck, degree of jointing of limbs (i.e., arms only, arms and legs, or special jointings such as elbows, knees, or waist). The style of jointing is also a factor of rarity, as peg-wooden jointing generally indicates an earlier model. Eyes. Glass eyes are generally more desirable than painted eyes. The relative desirability of sleep or set glass eyes varies from model to model, depending on the era of production. Quality of Painting. Collectors who seek artistic perfection in the facial painting of tiny dolls are due for disappointment, particularly if studied under the ruthless eye of a magnifying glass. While it is true that some examples (very rare) have exquisite quality of painting, generally, it is quite satisfactory if the doll has a charming facial expression, good quality of bisque, and painting. Costume. Although many collectors prefer to exhibit their all-bisque dolls nude – the better to show their wonderfully modeled little bodies – the existence of an antique costume is most desirable. If the costume is original, all the better – and this is often evident if a doll is in unplayed-with condition. Maker. Certain doll firms have attained a reputation for production, chief among these being Kestner and Simon and Halbig. All-bisque dolls known to be made by these firms, or bearing their signature, are especially desirable. Model. Certain models are very difficult to find. These range from early barefoot French girls to models by known artists such as Jeanne Orsini. Shoes. Unusual variations in painted shoes may include style or color of shoe, color of stocking, or even bare feet, which are quite rare. Characterization. A standard model with unusual expression achieved by painting variation is most desirable. A model designed to express emotion – wide eyes, “O”-shaped mouth, googly or such – is quite rare and desirable. Ethnicity. The vast majority of all-bisque dolls are rosycheeked pale-complexioned boys and girls. Models representing black or Asian people are rare. Variations in Ephemeral Detail. Dolls in original presentations, or in trunks with trousseau, or with provenance or other accessories have added value.

Condition. It is typical to find small rubs or flakes on the upper rims of arms and legs and at the peghole openings; it is generally not a detriment to an advanced collector in choosing a rare model. Other common condition issues that occur on all-bisque dolls include repair of interior bisque stringing loops, reglue of a bisque limb, especially at the ankle or elbow, or faint hairline; these issues are more significant in determining value, although not necessarily a detriment if the price is reflective and the flaw not easily visible. To find an all-bisque doll in excellent condition is rare. Combination of the Above. The truly rare dolls will have a combination of the above factors: an example of a desirable combination is a rare model with special construction features, quality decoration, antique costume, and excellent condition. Ask yourself: Have I seen another? Will I be likely to see another? A Brief Study Guide in the Chronology of the All-Bisque Doll 1860s – Production began of dolls made entirely of bisque (i.e., “all-bisque”). These dolls were mostly bazaar novelty dolls or off-shoots of knick-knacks and figurines. 1877 – Sustrac of France deposed a brevet (patent) for the jointing of all-bisque dolls, including elbows and knees. 1877 – All-bisque dolls were first offered in French Etrennes catalogs. 1878 – First mention of all-bisque dolls (“poupées de poche”) in La Poupée Modele. 1878 – Simon and Halbig of Germany registered their first all-bisque models: 845 and 848. 1878 – Mechanical toys featuring mignonettes were shown in French Etrennes catalogs. 1878 – Mignonettes were exhibited at the Paris International Exposition. 1879 – Schmitt et Fils of France deposed a brevet for articulation of all-bisque dolls. 1880 – Simon and Halbig of Germany registered two more models of all-bisque dolls: 847 and 848. 1880s – German firms, especially Simon and Halbig and Kester began supplying French doll firms. 1884 – German all-bisque dolls were shown in the catalog of American importer, Lauer of New York. 1894 – Lambert deposed a brevet (patent) for an automaton featuring a girl playing with mignonettes. 1899 – Jumeau listed “têtes mignonettes” in his final inventory. 1910s – Some art reform character models introduced in all-bisque. 1913 – The final series of all-bisque models by Simon and Halbig were registered: 896, 890, and 899. 1914 – Rose O’Neill’s all-bisque Kewpie appeared. 1917 – Mignonette of La Poupée Modele is discontinued forever. 1920s – Commissioned dolls by American illustrators such as Drayton, Putnam and Orsini were produced. 1932 – Kestner catalog continued to offer classic all-bisque dolls, probably from earlier left-over production. 1930s – The classic all-bisque European doll era ended.

Lenci School Boy Restoration Project A Family Affair

id-summer outdoor flea markets in central Vermont are a perfect way to spend a day. An hour into treasure hunting, there he was, standing tall. From a distance, he looked fine. He wore a knitted red sweater, a white cloth shirt, a tiny black bowtie, grey pants, black shoes, and a red felt cap. It was love at first sight. I picked him up and saw his face was stained and dirty, but his eyes were perfect. His cap covered his missing mohair wig. Only the wefts remained with a few woven strands. Unfortunately, his head was more than stained and dirty, it was nearly detached, held on with a few unbroken stitches and a yellow strip of old cellophane tape at the back of the neck. Upon returning home it was a few days before I turned my attention to him again. I examined his clothing and gave credit to whomever re-dressed him. The maker had tried to emulate the knitted and felt clothes he may have once worn. The sweater, however, was knitted in large and loose stitches and had only two buttons rather than the three typical of Lenci School Boy clothing. His pants were made of cloth, not felt, and were on backwards because they did not close around the waist. The socks were socks, not gaiters. I liked his black vinyl shoes although they were not leather oxfords, they fit and so, for now, I decided he could continue to wear them.

Undressed he revealed a few surprises. A pleasant surprise was a name written in pencil on his back. A first name Dickey with a surname possibly Juley were barely visible. Was Dickey the name of his previous owner? Was he responsible for the doll’s beheading? Or was neglect and rough handling over the years the cause of his sorry state now? We will never know. Not so pleasant a surprise was that his torso was punched in much more than it should be. My other Lenci School Boy gave me an idea of how his torso should look. I managed to strengthen and improve the torso. His head separated easily and gave access to the inside. Wool felt, a little glue and pressure helped reshape his stomach area. Reattaching his head was the biggest challenge. Husband Frank’s engineering abilities were seriously tested. Simply reattaching the head was not what I wanted. I also wanted the head to turn side to side like his fellow schoolboys. Considerations on how to do that included removing the previous repair that sewed the head to the torso and removing the head of the “rivet” to get the torso off the base of the head and leaving the post for reattachment. It appeared that a specialty bolt was used. Our dentist, Dr. Mark Keydel, kindly took an x-ray of the doll’s neck at his office. It showed what was inside the head including a specialty nut. Options were to attach a new piece in order to make another top of the torso or to open the back of the head to replace the

bolt with something modern or modify the threaded rod by either welding or drilling. Frank chose to drill as it would cause the least damage. The top of the torso needed to be rebuilt. A cardboard frame was needed to support the recovered torso top. Then it could be glued into place. Next was to assemble the torso/head joint and attach the new “shoulder plate” to the head. Finally, the head was attached by gluing down the new felt shoulder plate to the torso. We were not done with the head yet, however. A new wig was needed. The weft left on the head was

wound around the head starting at the left ear going around the lower portion of the back of the head and winding upward. Various hairstyles were used on Lenci boys and for Dickey it appeared he had bangs versus a side part. With Dickey’s head reattached and new weft in hand, I ventured forth. I basically followed the direction of the weft left on the head and with Frank’s help finished off the crown in a few hours. The purchased weft was made in seven-inch lengths, so a haircut and styling were needed. I engaged our hairdresser, Deb Alexander, for that task. She worked slowly and carefully, taking nearly two hours to trim the long strands. To help flatten his new cut, he wears a cap.

For recreating appropriate clothing, I purchased 100% merino wool and used Lenci patterns from Carol A. McKee’s book Lenci Clothes. I engaged my sister, Alice, who is an experienced seamstress, to make the shirt and pants. We wanted to make sure we got the clothing correct so first Alice used some craft felt I had on hand. Unexpectedly the shirt was too big, adding too much bulk around the torso. It was also too long down the back. The pants were too tight at the waist and did not come together and close. So, Alice sewed a second shirt and pants using the merino wool felt and altered the patterns slightly. Despite the modern felt being thicker than that used nearly a century ago, she got the clothes to fit. I hemmed the pants, created buttonholes on the shirt, and sewed on buttons. The task of making the sweater and gaiters was taken on by my stepdaughter, Erin. She is an excellent knitter. I showed her the clothes from my other Lenci School Boy along with the knitting instructions from McKee’s book. She took my plea for help and recreated the sweater and gaiters in her usual professional manner. This project was a learning experience for us all. Thanks to family, friends, and many hours of work, Dickey was repaired, made whole and appropriately dressed in true Lenci style. Restored Lenci School Boy
