Come to the country and ﬁnd antique treasures under the trees and in an historic German Turnverein that has been the center of social activities since 1879. Built to promote physical, spiritual and social life, the Turnverein provided the all male members with a place to practice their sport called Tureining similar to present day chinning the bar. By the 1930’s the practice had ended and the Turnverein became a meeting place on Sundays and hosted social functions such as dances. The 1902 original dance hall is a ﬁne example of construction methods the Germans brought with them from their homeland including a rare arch-type ceiling not typical for structures of this kind and not like others that are still standing. This building could tell us much about the life of the people living along the Fayette and Washington county line. Decendants of the original charter families and members of the community are dedicated to the preservation of this architectural and historic “jewel” so it may continue to serve the community for many years to come. The Turnverein is the perfect setting for La Bahia Antiques Show for dealers and collectors. This year, March 24 to April 1 are the dates for the Show & Sale. Some of the dealers will be setting up outside under the beautiful old trees. These dealers will offer quite a variety of merchandise such as Garden Architectural Items, Painted Furniture, Industrial, Advertising, Shabby Chic, Collectibles and Re-purpose Items and Wagons. Inside the hall, Flow Blue, American Primitives, Victorian, English Antiques, American and Vintage European Linens, Vintage & Estate Jewelry, Elegant Glass, Silver Sets, Clocks, Vintage Lamps and Toys, Quilts, Folk Art, American Stoneware, French Antiques, Collectibles, Repurpose Items & much more will be offered for sale to many of the eager buyers. Displays are changed out periodically as new collections are donated. Whether you are an experienced collector, new to the fascinating world of collecting glass or just want to be enthralled by the beauty and history of American glass there is something for everyone. We have a reference library and gift shop as well as seminars. The museum also participates in Wellington’s First Thursday each month where merchants invite artists to come into their shops to display their wares from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Refreshments are usually served for your enjoyment.

FEBRUARY 7, between 2:30 & 3:30 p.m.: The Greater Randolph Area Trail Riders Association (GRA-TRAils) Annual Rodeo Trail Ride is a traditional trail ride that makes a 7-day trek from Hays County to San Antonio in support of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. Each year, the crew of horseback riders pass through Gruene and stop for a quick break and photo-op in front of historic Gruene Hall. The historic setting of Gruene Historic District makes this timeless Texas tradition even more special. Observers are always appreciated to help welcome the riders into town. Who are we? We are beef jerkey artists. Testing each flavor to perfection, alongside our unique texture, and tenderness is our recipe for amazing jerky. It all began in the Northern Woods, making jerky for our trips to the wilderness using a simple dehydrator with pre-mixed flavor packets.
