Come to the country and find antique treasures under the trees and in an historic German Turnverein that has been the center of social activities since 1879. Built to promote physical, spiritual and social life, the Turnverein provided the all male members with a place to practice their sport called Tureining similar to present day chinning the bar. By the 1930’s the practice had ended and the Turnverein became a meeting place on Sundays and hosted social functions such as dances. The 1902 original dance hall is a fine example of construction methods the Germans brought with them from their homeland including a rare arch-type ceiling not typical for structures of this kind and not like others that are still standing. This building could tell us much about the life of the people living along the Fayette and Washington county line. Decendants of the original charter families and members of the community are dedicated to the preservation of this architectural and historic “jewel” so it may continue to serve the community for many years to come. The Turnverein is the perfect setting for La Bahia Antiques Show for dealers and collectors. This year, March 27 to April 4 are the dates for the Show & Sale. Some of the dealers will be setting up outside under the beautiful old trees. These dealers will offer quite a variety of merchandise such as Garden Architectural Items, Painted Furniture, Oriental Statues, Advertising, Shabby Chic, Collectibles and Re-purpose Items and Wagons. Inside the hall, Flow Blue, American Primitives, Victorian, English Antiques, American and European Linens, Stoneware, Vintage & Estate Jewelry, Elegant Glass, Silver Sets, Clocks, Vintage Lamps and Toys, Quilts, Folk Art, American Stoneware, Oak Furniture, French Antiques & much more will be offered for sale to many of the eager buyers. Porcelain restoration at the show. Those who are looking for a particular item enjoy a country atmosphere, history, and the aroma of wonderful food cooking in the outside kitchen area, and are interested in seeing an unusual architectural building should make plans to visit the La Bahia Show. La Bahia is located 15 miles west of Brenham, Texas on Hwy. 290 W, 1/4 mile left on Texas 237. The location is only 7 miles from Round Top. Since the neighboring towns are also holding antique shows and sales on these same dates, this area is the place to be.

Since its first show in the Spring of 1995, THE OLD DEPOT has become known as “the place the dealers buy”, because a large percentage of the merchandise sold here winds up at the other shows at much higher prices. Come early and get first shot at the best stuff before it gets picked over by dealers from the other shows. Beside the general antiques brought by our fine dealers from all around the country, THE OLD DEPOT has also earned the reputation as “One Stop Shopping For Glass Collectors” because our glass dealers have everything from Early American Pattern Glass from the 1840’s to glass from modern houses such as Blenko and Fenton. Showing at THE OLD DEPOT for their third time are LINDA and DAVE ADAMS from Las Vegas, Nevada, specializing in elegant glass from Cambridge, and loads of stemware; and, also returning for their third show are MIKE and KATHY BOMAN, from Sioux City, Iowa, with vintage jewelry, furniture, antique lighting, tea cup sets, whiskey jugs and assorted glassware. Long time OLD DEPOT dealer, DICK TRACY, of Caldwell, KS, will be back with gas pumps, primitives, petroliana and over 300 pairs of spurs, and INDIAN CREEK ANTIQUES, of Seguin, Texas, will be in their new location in the pavilion, near the ramp, with over 1000 pieces of sterling silver, silverplate and stainless tableware to replace your missing pieces or to complete your set.

Another long time OLD DEPOT dealer, THE FOXE’S DEN, of Edmond Oklahoma, will be back with their selection of fishing collectibles, vintage toys, paper collectibles, wooden boxes and trunks. Among the many returning glass dealers will be JACK PEACOCK, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, with the largest selection of hard to find elegant glass from companies like Tiffin, Fenton, Heisey, Cambridge, Fostoria and many others, as well as bringing the largest selection of candelabra in all of Antique Week. DALE and LINDA RIENDEAU, from Grand Rapids, Minnesota, will be back for their fourth show with Depression Glass, Elegant Glass, Fiesta, children’s books, pictures and pottery, and MARILYN and EDDIE ARNOLD, of Beaumont, Texas will have loads of Early American Pattern Glass for your shopping pleasure. ELMER and SUNNY SHEELY, from Oklahoma City, will have a lot of glass, specializing in Fostoria American, as well as trains from Lionel, Marx and American Flyer. Showing at THE OLD DEPOT for her 35th time will be ENID WASKA, of -Flatonia, TX with a booth of glassware specializing in Imperial’s candlewick, along with Wave Crest and furniture. THE OLD DEPOT has FREE ADMISSION, FREE PARKING, clean rest rooms and an air conditioned restaurant to make your shopping more pleasurable. We have full RV hookups for our dealers and the whole venue is wheelchair accessible. We’re open until 9 p.m. on Fridays. ATTENTION GLASS COLLECTORS! The National Depression Glass Association has announced a new program to help glass collectors identify their finds. All the collector has to do is go to the National Depression Glass Association’s website www.ndga.net, and in the “MENU� area in the upper left corner, click on “Contact us�. On the screen that appears, click on “I would like help with glass identification�, enter your name and email address and attach a photo of the piece you’d like identified. Your inquiry will be forwarded to one of our many volunteers, each of whom specializes in a specific glassware field such as Early American Pattern Glass, Depression Glass, Elegant Glass, etc. Since these are volunteers, please keep in mind that it might take a few days for them to research your glassware and send a response.
