SIXTH ANNUAL PARIS TEXAS ANTIQUE FAIR & WINE FESTIVAL The Paris Texas Antique Fair & Wine Festival is upon us once again! This event was started by Janet Green & her company, Two Rivers Antiques, 6 years ago. It was originally an event at the fairgrounds in Paris, Texas and is now being sponsored by the Paris Downtown Association and is being held at the historic Gibraltar Hotel. It is an honor to be able to hold this event in such a fabulous antique venue. The entry fee for this year will be $5 for the weekend. You will receive a wristband and this will guarantee your entry for both days. The money raised from this event will fund downtown kiosks and way-finding signs for downtown Paris. This year we are excited to announce that in addition to our 30-plus antique vendors we will also be holding a wine festival. We will have ten Texas wine vendors at the event. The wine festival will be a $5 entry fee per day to attend. This fee includes a commemorative glass! The wine tastings are $1 or you may enjoy a glass of wine, on sight, for $5 per glass. You will be able to sample all the wines offered, buy wine by the glass, bottle or case and meet many local wineries that may peak your interest in Texas wines! In addition to this on Friday night, October 7, we will have a Party on the Plaza. This part of the event will allow you to shop late with our local downtown Merchants, sample foods and goodies that they carry in their stores, and at 7 p.m. the live music will start at the fountain. This year’s music is being provided by a local band, The Mixed Society. They play a lively combination of Blues, Funk, and Jazz. Oh, don’t miss the fabulous attraction of the “B’s” and their unique, one of a kind, restored vintage trailers. These ladies have the best time dressing up in their petticoats, boots, cowgirl hats and bustiers! The ladies get together with her trailers at events to help raise funds for a designated charity. You are welcome to tour their trailers and, if you wish, make a small donation to their charity of choice. Please don’t miss this fabulous opportunity to enjoy the Paris Texas Antique Fair. Put this date on your calendar now! October 7th and 8th, starting at 10 a.m. on Friday morning until 6 p.m. Friday evening. Saturday the hours will be 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

NDGA National Glass Museum Glass on display from the Victorian Era (1800’s) up through Mid-Century Modern with the emphasis on the Depression Era. There is a section of children’s dishes, kitchen items, paperweights, lost children pitcher collection, candlestick collection, a case of carnival glass and much, much more! Displays are changed out periodically as new collections are donated. Whether you are an experienced collector, new to the fascinating world of collecting glass or just want to be enthralled by the beauty and history of American glass there is something for everyone. We have a reference library and gift shop as well as seminars. The museum also participates in Wellington’s First Friday each month where merchants invite artists to come into their shops to display their wares from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Refreshments are usually served for your enjoyment.

Come to the country and find antique treasures under the trees and in an historic German Turnverein that has been the center of social activities since 1879. Built to promote physical, spiritual and social life, the Turnverein provided the all male members with a place to practice their sport called Tureining similar to present day chinning the bar. By the 1930’s the practice had ended and the Turnverein became a meeting place on Sundays and hosted social functions such as dances. The 1902 original dance hall is a fine example of construction methods the Germans brought with them from their homeland including a rare arch-type ceiling not typical for structures of this kind and not like others that are still standing. This building could tell us much about the life of the people living along the Fayette and Washington county line. Decendants of the original charter families and members of the community are dedicated to the preservation of this architectural and historic “jewel” so it may continue to serve the community for many years to come. The Turnverein is the perfect setting for La Bahia Antiques Show for dealers and collectors. This year, September 23 to October 1 are the dates for the Show & Sale. Some of the dealers will be setting up outside under the beautiful old trees. These dealers will offer quite a variety of merchandise such as Garden Architectural Items, Painted Furniture, Industrial, Advertising, Shabby Chic, Collectibles and Re-purpose Items and Wagons. Inside the hall, Flow Blue, American Primitives, Victorian, English Antiques, American and Vintage European Linens, Vintage & Estate Jewelry, Elegant Glass, Silver Sets, Clocks, Vintage Lamps and Toys, Quilts, Folk Art, American Stoneware, French Antiques, Collectibles, Repurpose Items & much more will be offered for sale to many of the eager buyers. Porcelain restoration at the show. Those who are looking for a particular item enjoy a country atmosphere, history, and the aroma of wonderful food cooking in the outside kitchen area, and are interested in seeing an unusual architectural building should make plans to visit the La Bahia Show. La Bahia is located 15 miles west of Brenham, Texas on Hwy. 290 W, 1/2 mile left on Texas 237. The location is only 7 miles from Round Top. Since the neighboring towns are also holding antique shows and sales on these same dates, this area is the place to be.
