International Network for Bamboo and Rattan INBAR is an intergovernmental organization headquartered in Beijing, China. INBAR works with Governments, Industry partners, Development Partners, NGOs, Universities, etc. to support the development of the bamboo and rattan sectors. As of 2012, we have 38 member countries: Argentina, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Burundi, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Jamaica, Kenya, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Panama, Peru, Rwanda, The Philippines, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Surinam, Tanzania, Togo, Tonga, Uganda, Venezuela and Vietnam.

Charcoal and activated carbon Charcoal is used as a fuel, for barbecues (South Africa, EU, USA, Japan, Korea etc) and for filtration / purification to remove organic compounds from water and air. As activated carbon it can be used for waste water treatment, gold extraction etc.
World production of wood charcoal is increasing every year. -According to FAOstat: from 40.000 Kt. in 2000 to 47.000 Kt in 2009
