Glen Cove Police Arrest Serial Burglar

On Jan. 25, Glen Cove Police Detectives arrested Glen Cove resident Arlin Velasquez, age 26, for a string of five business break-ins that began on Nov. 23, 2022, to Jan. 21, 2023. All the burglaries occurred in the early morning hours with the defendant kicking in the front glass of each business to gain entry inside. Once inside, the defendant would typically remove money from the cash registers. One of the restaurants,

Tex Mex, located at 214 Glen Cove Ave was burglarized on three different occasions. The defendant Arlin Velasquez was employed by Tex mex before being fired in June 2022 when it was discovered he was stealing from the business.

The dates the businesses were broken into are as follows:

Tex Mex Restaurant located at 214 Glen Cove Ave was burglarized three times, Nov.

23, 30, Dec. 6, 2022.

Villa Meci Pizzaria located at 214D Glen Cove Ave was broken into on Dec. 6, 2022.

Sids all American Burger and Ice Cream located at 80 Glen Cove Ave. was burglarized on Jan. 21, 2023.

The defendant is charged with four counts of Burglary in the 3rd degree, five counts of Criminal Mischief in the third degree and Criminal Trespass. The defendant was be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead.
