Black History Month Concert: ‘Songs

That Brought Us Through’ Raynham Hall, 30 W Main St. in Oyster Bay, is hosting a 50-minute Black History Month Concert at 3 p.m., followed by a reception with the musicians. Suggested donation for admission is $25. Concert description: “From slavery to emancipation, the Negro Spiritual served as a vessel of communication, empowerment and inspiration and helped a nation of people in bondage endure life. During the civil rights movement of the 1960s, Negro Spirituals, as well as hymns and folk songs, became the soundtrack that fueled the movement and has continued to serve as an integral part of human rights movements through the years.” This concert is presented by June E. Townes and Gospera, and will celebrate the beauty and legacy of these spirituals, hymns and folk songs, while exemplifying their continued relevance through the years and during current times.

Movie Showing: Hidden Figures The movie, Hidden Figures, will be playing at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public

Library, 89 E Main St., from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. This movie is rated PG and runs 127 minutes long. Movie synopsis: “As the U.S. raced against Russia to put a man in space, NASA found untapped talent in a group of African-American female mathematicians that served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in U.S. history. Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson and Katherine Johnson crossed all gender, race and professional lines while their brilliance and desire to dream big, beyond anything ever accomplished before by the human race, firmly cemented them in U.S. history as true American heroes.

Open Mic Night At Amalfi

Every Tuesday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. is Open Mic Night at Amalfi, 197 Forest Ave. in Glen Cove, hosted by David Lamm. All skill levels are welcome to show off their talent using the PA system, two microphones and available microphone covers. Tuesday also happens to be pasta night, so come on down.

Deep Roots Indoor Winter Market

The new home for the Deep Roots Farmers

Market will be St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Glen Cove, 28 Highland Road, on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. except for the third Saturday of the month, starting Jan. 7. There will be no market on the third Saturday of the month because St. Paul’s hosts a free, hot meal and groceries to 80-plus men, women and children from the community on those days.

The Winter Market in Oyster Bay

Every Saturday starting Jan. 21 through April 29, excluding March 11 and April 8, there will be an Indoor Winter Market at St. Dominic Roman Catholic Church from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that will support small businesses. For more information or for an application, visit foodtruckfridaypeople.com.
