Treats to help your pets cool down this summer Self-cooling pad

eeping our furry friends cool in the summer is no easy task. Even a jump in the pool or a run through the sprinkler can only quell the heat for so long. If you’re hot, your pet is probably hotter. During a heat wave like the one Long Island is currently experiencing, keep pets inside with the air conditioner on full blast and treat them to some fun and refreshing ways to beat the heat.
Sweet treats
We scream for ice cream and so do our pets... sort of. While most supermarkets carry dog-friendly ice cream like the Frosty Paws brand, try these homemade sweet treats that are super simple to make. For dogs, blend two teaspoons of coconut oil, two ripe bananas and half a cup of peanut butter in a blender. Pour into ice cube trays and freeze. You may want to consider a larger mold that way the treat lasts longer for your pup. For cats, incorporate some chicken stock and water and freeze into ice cube trays. Not only will this treat keep them occupied during playtime, it will taste delicious when they decide to eat it.
