Street or Luxury? High level of scepticism, madness, surprise... If you haven’t heard (in which case, welcome back to planet Earth), NYC skate brand Supreme heritage French luxury house Louis Vuitton have recently unveiled their FW17 collaboration at Paris Fashion Week. Many are calling it one of the most important pairings in fashion history, a union between two of the most iconic names in the world that represents the ultimate wall-breaker within the realms of street and luxury. It was only a few weeks ago that rumors of an alleged collaboration were swirling around the blogosphere, when leaked photos of pieces emblazoned with both LV’s monogram a had streetwear and high fashion comOne of New York’s first pro skaters, Jefferson Pang, will be the manager of Supreme’s Brooklyn location

Supreme or LV? for sure one of the most unbelievable collaborations

leaked photos of pieces emblazoned with both LV’s monogram and Supreme’s box logo had streetwear and high fashion communities whirring at their keyboards with furor. Now, already some days after its confirmation, Supreme x Louis Vuitton is still the most popular topic around the fashion water cooler. That, in 2000, once tried to sue Supreme for lifting its precious logo is now embracing it with open arms, showing just how far the industry has come to accepting the market’s coexistence of streetwear and high fashion.

WILLEM IS THE NEW WAVE OF AMERICAN STYLE NOT STYLE AS IN FASHION. BUT STYLE AS IN STYLE. STYLE AS IN DAVID BOWIE OFTEN WEARING TWO DIFFERENT SOCKS. STYLE AS IN PATRICK EWING WEARING AN UNDERSHIRT SO HE DOESN’T CATCH A COLD. STYLE AS IN PICASSO WEARING A ROBE AND A PIRATE HAT IN HIS STUDIO. STYLE AS IN DOING ALMOST EVERYTHING RIGHT AND ONE THING VERY WRONG. WILLEM IS HERE TO GIVE YOU WHAT IS RIGHT. THE PERFECT IMPERFECTION IS SOLD SEPERATELY.

Willem was established in 2018 by Sean McDonagh in New York City. After years of designing footwear along with other creative endeavors, he set out to tell a full story through clothing.

If we had to put our thumb on it we are a menswear brand. We use our clothes to tell stories of creative histories. Each garment contains a chapter in our end less book of creative endeavors. We want to bridge this gap between a wool jacket and a book jacket.

Historically, the menswe ar sportswear system fol lowed a set, cyclical pro tocol which was precise ly scheduled and presen ted to when the public received access to the collections. Moreover, once upon a time, you could count the number of prominent classic.

The initial style of the trans formation happens quickly. These days, evolution of real time fashion informati on is transferred seemingly at the speed of light. In my experience both the pace and the direction trendshinge on consumer experience. Within social media that is giving a glimpse.

Willem serves as an adult version of an imaginary friend. We wanted to create a character that had no nineto-five and had all day to explore. A season Willem may be into punk rock and the next he could be sailing around the world. He is who you want him to be.

“We obsess over quality and value. All of our clothes are made in some of the best factories in Verona, Italy which we share with some of the top fashion houses of today. We use the direct to consumer model our way, giving you the best quality for the best value.

“Style is doing almost everything right and one thing very wrong.” THE WAY NEW YORK USED TO BE ? CBGB, MAX’S KANSAS CITY, PUNKS, POETS, GRIT ? We miss it. But spankin’ new men’s label Willem New York is aiming to revive the era with a new collection that mixes old-school essentials with some offbeat statement pieces. “I was once told that during the rise of punk there was a period where they would wear very casual clothes (‘dress not to attract attention’), so I thought that would be a good starting point,” says founder and creative director, Sean McDonagh. Each garment features one of six unique illustrated labels that depict the scene at Max’s — which shuttered in 1981 — and the influential people who were regulars at the bar. “It was a little rabbit hole that we had a lot of fun with,” says McDonagh. “We plan to produce an installation-like experience around every collection so the history isn’t lost.”

Reflective in the streetwear? why? what does it mean? but... ok.

capsule.

This page has been made to introduce the world and the word reflection and to show its role in the streetwear scene. At the end of this metallic pages I‘m asking to you if you will have understand it. Don’t worry, not everybody are able to understand it.

Mike Cherman’s life changed when he was hit by a car while riding his bike, but the consequences of that incident have arguably spawned more good than bad. The reflective garment brand that he conceived as an immediate result of that accident, ICNY, has gone on to carve a name for itself with its unique blend of streetwear influences and safety textiles. Using 3M as a common motif across the board, ICNY’s designs reinterpret the functional fabric into stylish and desirable pieces that meld exercise and downtime seamlessly through the application of 3M in its trademark polka dot pattern as well as a myriad of other decorative motifs. 2014 has been a year of progress for Cherman’s still-fledgling brand, with brands like Staple Design, Jason Markk, Without Walls by Urban Outfitters, and Extra Butter recognizing the potential of ICNY’s unique product with covetable collaborations. With its current momentum and Cherman’s dedication, the label’s potential has nowhere to go from here but upwards into the New Year.

Reflective for necessity? Mike Cherman and ICNY

ICNY X Puma

“I was riding home and basically going full speed, wearing all black. A guy ran out between two cars and I ended up hitting him and landing face first into the ground. I scraped the whole side of my body, with the inside of my leg cut open, and I almost got run over by a car. My bike got damaged and I had to carry it home. That was one of the worst experiences ever, and after that I asked myself “what can I do to keep myself safe?” I was working at Nike at the time and I had all these different machines that had various types of applications, so I bought some socks, took a reflective sheet and cut some polka dots out. Put them on the socks and that’s kinda where it all started.

The material was peeling off and cracking. After putting extra time into the research and development of our sock, it doesn’t have these issues anymore. always say that ICNY has more purpose than any of the other fashion brands that are coming out these days because it has function. Many people see it as a streetwear or biking brand, but the goal overall is really to push it as a sportswear brand. As a runner and a cyclist, I focus most on performance and least about the graphics on my t-shirt. Besides trying not to get pigeonholed, our biggest challenge is to elevate the quality, the function and the actual performance of the clothing.

Reflectivity works by returning light to the source, like a mirror. Retroreflectivity helps the eye perceive objects in low-light conditions when illuminated by a light source. Reflective is “always on technology. No need for batteries or charging for added safety .

Iwa 004 is inspired by the japanese culture and produced in one of the best textile industry near Verona. But what is a kimono? KI = wear_ MONO = object. Worn object / an object that is worn_this is IWA 004. For these reason it’s considered more than a simple kimono, created and thought in order to fit cool in every situation. IWA 004 is an homage to true craftmanship and for this reason they decided to make this garment on the valpolicella hills, where they work side by side with some of the most skilled artisans to create an unique piece that will last a lifetime. As said, inspired by the original japanese garment they re-interpretated

the original kimono fit into an every day and all day usage. With multiple ways to adapt the fit to your personal need. Known to be the strongest and most durable jersey on the market, it is now used rarely in this fast and disposable fashion market but was once a staple in sportswear. In order to produce this material we had to recoup vintage stock of the yarn from a late italian factory that is now no longer operating. why black? Black lacking hue and brightness, absorbing light without reflecting any of the rays composing it. At the end IWA is functional ,essential and always black.

Yes, it’s speaking again the narrator or the founder of capsule, up to you decide... I wrote you in the first page of this chapter asking you if you will be able to understand the role of reflection in the streetwear scene. So, at he end, what is its role? reflection is basically the reflection of light when it hits an object. the reflectivity in the streetwear can be used for necessity or for will to be noticed. It’s up to you decide in which way use it but for sure you will love it
