Sognavamo di regalare ai giovanissimi nati nel nuovo millennio, l'emozione che donavano ai loro bisnonni, i libri di un tempo, inestimabili maestri, compagni di vita e volani di sogni. L'avvicinarsi del periodo più magico dell'anno, il Natale, ci ha suggerito di riunire, come fosse una scatola di preziosi ricordi, 16 tra i più bei canti della tradizione natalizia, elegantemente e semplicemente armonizzati per pianoforte solo. La linea melodica del canto è riportata, unitamente al testo originale, sia nella parte pianistica sia in parte staccata per voce sola. Ogni canto è corredato di brevi note storiche e di testo integrale in lingua originale o nelle lingue più conosciute. I piccoli pianisti e cantanti scopriranno la magia del Natale, i loro genitori e nonni rivivranno il dolce ricordo di quelli lontani, gli uni con gli occhi degli altri, in uno scambio continuo di dolci emozioni. (1857) Autore James Lord Pierpont (1822-1893) Scritta per le celebrazioni della festa del ringraziamento (festa statunitense di origine cristiana che si osserva nel mese di novembre) è stata nel tempo associata al periodo natalizio. Secondo la Medford Historical Society (società storica di Medford, Massachusetts, dove è affissa, su un edificio, una targa commemorativa la nascita in quel luogo della canzone),
l'autore, per la stesura del testo, è stato ispirato dalle popolari corse delle slitte che si svolgevano nella città durante il il XIX secolo.
