It is a question of an integral refurbishment and fit out in an apartment in a very precarious state located at the centre of Madrid. The apartment had been used as offices before and our clients would like to do a big investment to get an incredible apartment to be on holidays. With an area of 340 sqm, high ceilings and three patios for getting light our proposal was to create to different atmospheres one for public (day) rooms and other one for private (night) use. In the refurbishment the clients wanted to use luxury materials like marble or hight quality woods in the public spaces. A big amount of the budget was used in the furniture and design. The apartment it´s composed for three bed rooms, one hall, two living rooms, one dining room, a library, a kitchen and a room for the charwoman, with another access to the apartment.

PROJECT NAME: CHAMBERI MUTANT OFFICE:
Chamberí mutant is a project made for explore other urban forms and introduce in the city a social simbol. We are in the Chamberí district, Almagro neighborhood to be exactly. When I analiced that place I saw a problem with the public urban endowment. In this neighborhood, there is a "cultural island" with a lot of schools, museums, fundations, etc. We can see a lack in public spaces of relation, sport spaces, green areas or playgrounds. Also this place is in a dense urban fabrik, there are not free sites, we need to look for it. Because of this is how I met a vacuum very common in the urban planning of madrid, the patio between the buildings. This is a tipologie closed to the exterior, that divides space publics-privates. The idea was to create relation spaces for the neigbors giving importance to the public ground and to reactive the lost ground, that now its used by garages, little factories or little patios. Our labour is to empty, to drill, to deconstruct, to reconnect. Them, we could see that is insuficient for the enviroment necessities. The solution was looking to the sky. I design a building of public endowment crowned by a tower, a symbol of the capital destined for the social. That was the form of improve the little ground exist and develop it in height to contain the public endowment necessary for the neighborhood. This tower was built on diferents periods of time. The plan concludes making demolitions of the previous buildings and finishing the reorganization of the urban block.
