Retreat Goals

.

Building Stronger Relationships and Developing Support Network

Developing Individual and Collective Goals

Preparing for the Future of M.A.L.E.

WHAT IS M.A.L.E. HISTORY In the summer of 2010, MSU alumnus Mark Williams returned to the university as a Resident Director. Drawing upon his experiences he knew the unique challenges facing Black males on this campus along with increasing challenges students of color were having. Since then M.A.L.E. has been focused on improving the academic performance of students of color. While the target of M.A.L.E. has been students of color, it has attracted undergraduate and graduate students of all backgrounds. Our vision is to help males at Michigan State University to excel academically, to prepare for post graduate studies or employment, and to provide a community of support while matriculating.

"If you want to be important, wonderful! If you want to be recognized, wonderful! If you want to be great, wonderful! But recognize that he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. That's the new definition of greatness...by given that definition of greatness it means that everybody can be great, because everybody can serve." ~ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
