This tool is not designed to replace your other cutting combs but it was designed to help speed up your cutting time from behind the chair in order for you the artist to make more money.

You will learn how to approach the haircut using different cutting tools such as shears or clippers. You will also be introduced to twist cutting using DACurve by Antool Tarrrell. These basic creative techniques will help you to become a better hair cutter and help build your confidece when it comes to haircutting.
In this guide we will address some of the questions that are often asked in class and trade shows. Don't limit yourself to just these techniques. Often we hear after purchasing the tool they never picked it back up because they couldn't hold the comb properly or they forgot some of the techniques. I suggest that you practice on mankins as much as you can.

CONCAVE Explain "Concave & Convex" position? When held in a caoncave position it reminds you of a sad face. The hair will be shorter in the center and longer on the ends if placed athe the nape area and longer in the center if placed at the top of the crown area. Either way it will create the illusion of movement.

CONVEX Concavex position reminds you of a happy face. When held at the nape area the hair will be longer in the center and shorter on the sides. When held in the crown are the hair will be shorter in the center and longer on both side of the comb.

HOW TO? How do I create the concave shape in the nape area? The above picture is showing you the underneath technique. You achieve this look by droping all of the hair into DACurve by Antonio Tarrell, then you position the comb at your desired fixated position. Then use desired tool and follow the curve of the comb. In the above picture the hair will be shorter in the center and longer toward both ends of the comb.

HOW TO? If I want to round the outer perimeter, how do I do that? The above picture is showing you how to round the ends of the hair using clippers. You can create this look by positioning DACurve by Antonio Tarrell in a convex position and take desired tool and follow the curve of the comb.

TOOLS Can I use shears? Yes, the difference when using shears and not clippers is that you want be able to get as close to the comb versus the clippers. When using shears you will get more of a softer line than a harder line with the clippers.

APPROACH What about point cutting? Yes, in the above picture go in a angle and remove hair as needed remembering to follow the curve of the comb.

TOOLS Can I angle the comb at any position? Yes, the above picture is being demonstrated using the racking technique. When using this technique you are controling the hair at a zero degree elevation. The desired tool was clippers, take the corner of the clipper blade and follow the curve of the comb.

APPROACH Can I do clipper over comb or shear over comb? Yes, take the same approach as if you were using a all purpose comb.

RACKING This technique means taking the comb and racking the teeth of the comb down the hair and holding it a desired location.

UNDER This technique means holding a section of hair or a entire panel of hair in one hand and taking DACurve by Antonio Tarrell in the other hand and going underneath the hair with the spine of the comb against the neck and the teeth of the comb facing you for controlling the hair.

CONTROL How do I control the hair and can I place all of the hair into the comb at one time? Yes, you control the hair in the above picture by combing all of the hair straight and smooth and holding the entire panel of hair in one hand and DACurve by Antonio Tarrell in the other hand. Slightly hold the hair tight but not to tight.

CONTROL Go underneath with DACurve by Antonio Tarrell with the teeth of the comb facing you for controling the hair. Place DACurve by Antonio Tarrell under the entire panel and press all of the hair between the teeth of the comb then hold the comb at desired position.

PANELS What does panels mean? Drawing out a section of hair and cutting that entire panel at one time.

SECTIONING Do I have to take panels and cut all the hair at one time? No, You can section the hair like the traditional way but the more hair you take the more control you will have of the hair when using DACurve by Antonio Tarrell because it was designed to drop as much hair into the comb at one time.

SIDES How do I make the sides longer when cutting a bob? In the above picture the racking technique is being used. Take the comb and rack the comb down the hair and hold at desired position and take desired tool.

SIDES Can I over direct the hair? Yes, in the above picture the underneath technique is being used. Drop the entire panel of hair into DACurve by Antonio Tarrell and over direct the hair into desired fixated position. The more you drop the front of the comb the longer the hair will be toward the face.

ROUNDING How do I round the sides? In the above picture DACurve by Antonio Tarrell was held in a convex position and slightly angle to desired position. Point cut the hair for softness and follow the curve of the comb.

TOP How do I round the top area of the head without having a hard line? Take all of the crown area and hold DACurve by Antonio Tarrell in a concave position and take shears and point cut until all of the hair is removed.

TOP How do I create short to long layers in the top area of the head? Take all of the crown area and place DACurve by Antonio Tarrell in desired fixated position. The more you angle the comb toward the ceiling the longer the hair will be toward the face. The same thing applies if you want long to short layers. Use desired tool.
