T HE ANNUAL GUIDE T O G REAT NECK Welcome to the 2010 Guide to Great Neck!

W

elcome to this very special 2010 Guide to Great Neck, honoring the 75th anniversary of the Great Neck Chamber of Commerce! The Great Neck Record is so very pleased and proud to recognize the tremendous efforts and the world of good works all engineered by our Chamber of Commerce and its very hard-working, dedicated members. The Great Neck Chamber of Commerce is always busy, looking for innovative new ways to support, bolster, and recognize all local businesses and business people. The Chamber newsletter The Sign Post, the networking events, the monthly breakfasts featuring the “shakers and the movers” discussing timely events, the annual awards dinner, the famous Taste of Great Neck, and so much more … they are all thanks to our Chamber of Commerce. Great Neck Chamber of Commerce President Valerie Link, the advertising representative for the Great Neck Record, is always around, always in town, helping us all make Great Neck a much better place in which to live and to work. A great favorite with one and all, Valerie and her Chamber members work so very hard to help keep the “great” in Great Neck. Do read this Guide and enjoy the articles, the reprints of old, old Chamber of Commerce news events, and the photographs of a wealth of Chamber of Commerce special events. Take a look at all that the Chamber does, learn a bit about our community, and have some fun! We thank the Great Neck Chamber of Commerce for helping to keep our community a vibrant, healthy, bustling town. Looking forward to an exciting future, we salute the Chamber of Commerce on 75 fantastic years! And thank you! -Wendy Karpel Kreitzman, editor, Great Neck Record

From The President of Great Neck Chamber of Commerce Since I joined the Great Neck Chamber of Commerce over 15 years ago, I have seen the Chamber make tremendous strides to enhance the business community. We have had extremely successful “networking events” including our speed networking event which everyone enjoyed and networked with other businesses, store owners and professionals. Our “ever popular” “Taste of Great Neck,” has been hosted by the most magnificent venue in all of Great Neck, the Officers’ Club of the United States Merchant Marine Academy, overlooking the Manhattan skyline, bridges and Long Island Sound. With over 20 restaurants participating and over 400 people attending, the “Taste of Great Neck,” has become the culinary event of the North Shore. All who attend, talk about it frequently and ask us to do it more often. Our Annual Awards Dinners honor those individuals who contribute above and beyond to enhance the business environment and quality of life on the Great Neck peninsula. We also present the Giraffe Award to those individuals who “stick their neck out” for Great Neck. The honorees contribute their time and efforts to make Great Neck a wonderful place to work, shop and live. The Chamber has also organized meetings with Nassau County, the Town of North Hempstead and local officials to assist in the beautification of Great Neck and to augment and improve the business environment. The Chamber is working to increase store occupancies and has also worked to clean up store fronts. We also have a wonderful magazine newsletter, a bi-monthly, called S.I.G.N. Post. This magazine is our liaison between our members and the activities of the Chamber. S.I.G.N. means SHOP IN GREAT NECK. We also arrange and conduct ribbon-cuttings to welcome new businesses to Great Neck. This year, we created a new award, the “WOW Award,” “Windows of Wonder,” to recognize exceptional window displays in retail stores. We welcome everyone to become a member of the Chamber and we offer networking opportunities all the time. We host a breakfast once a month, usually on the third Thursday of the month. We welcome everyone to come to hear topics that directly affect Great Neck businesses. I look forward to continuing to work with all of you and please feel free to contact me at any time : valerielink@greatneckchamber.org. Valerie Link President Great Neck Chamber of Commerce

Chamber of Commerce Reports Pollution Of Local Waters Studied Year Exchange of Letters With State Made Public

J

ust one year ago after the Nassau County Health Department made its annual report on the condition of the bathing beaches in the Great Neck area, a great majority considered “bad,” the Chamber of Commerce and a number of residents set out to find a corrective answer for this deplorable condition. The Chamber, through their President Jesse M. Markel, for one year has been exchanging letters with various Sanitation Committees of the state and the legislative body in Albany striving desperately to come up with a solution to the beach problem. This week Mr. Markel made public the various exchanges of letters in an effort to prove to the residents that the Chamber of Commerce is well aware of the situation and is trying to rectify it.

Chamber of Commerce Was Markel Creation

I

By Elizabeth Bogen t is almost fair to say that the history of the Great Neck Chamber of Commerce is the story of Jesse M. Markel. Markel wanted it, pushed for it, created it and headed it for seven years. Since a fire in the Chamber offices destroyed all early records, Markel is also the repository of the official reminiscences. Markel took up permanent residence in Great Neck in 1928 just after his marriage. By 1947 he couldn’t stand the fact that Great Neck had no Chamber. “When people asked me if we had a Chamber of Commerce,” he recollects, “I had to tell them we didn’t. The Chamber of Commerce was born out of my shame.” It was born also out of his sense of civic responsibility and community pride. He was raised to believe that a man lives for more than himself. His father, a banker, seemed to make time for more occupations than making money. “If you ever want anything done on this short visit,” Markel remembers hearing, “make sure you ask a busy man. The other fellow has no time.” The younger Markel was a busy man. He asked of himself, and others asked of him. His greatest gift to his community was the creation in 1946 of a Chamber of Commerce that could go on to fight the good fight for local traffic and parking improvements, clean water, the creation of a Community Fund, better train and taxi service … and the list goes on. In the fall of 1946 Markel gathered around him the other movers and doers in Great Neck to create the Chamber. In January of 1947 he was elected its first president, along with Willis Bryant, the mayor of Great Neck, as first vice president; Ernest Janelli of Great

Neck Jewelry as second vice-president; Walter Slattery of the Great Neck News, third vice-president; and James K. Ryan of the Great Neck Trust Co. (now Franklin National Bank) as treasurer. Some members of the nominating committee who still make history in these parts were George Worthington and Ellis Schiffmacher. Among the new directors were Charles Ward, the engineer and surveyor; Irwin Browner, counsel for the Chamber, who 20 years later became the chairman of the Great Neck Regional Planning Board; Robert Rose, the builder; Joseph Gilliar of Gilliar Drugs; and Harriette Ligety who ran a ladies apparel shop. It is one of Markel’s proudest boasts that he “had the temerity to put a woman on the board.” One of his earliest battles – a fight that absorbed 12 years of his life – was for the reconstruction of the Cutter Mill Road railroad bridge. When Markel started the battle alone, three or four school buses a day were passing over a narrow, ancient bridge. Automobiles sailed occasionally over the edges and into the railroad cut below. One driver broke his back. Markel was afraid the next vehicle to go might be a school bus. By 1947 when the Public Service Commission finally announced a new bridge would be built, 17 buses were passing that way each day. The newly born Chamber had jumped on Markel’s bandwagon the year before and had fought for the reconstruction, over the limp bodies of the county, state and Long Island Rail Road, for all of whom the improvement spelled expense. For the first year, the Chamber had no executive secretary or stenographer, so Markel did that job too.

Every holiday. Every day.

THE A NNUAL G UIDE TO G REAT N ECK Chamber of Commerce Was Markel Creation continued from page 6

63694

In its first year the Chamber got after the Village of Great Neck Plaza to plan for some off-street parking lots, the first of which was opened in 1948; complained to the Interstate Sanitation Commission that Great Neck’s bathing waters were becoming polluted, which resulted in an investigation by that august body; started to plan a community chest; and took off after the Long Island Rail Road in hopes of getting some better service for the men and women who weren’t lucky enough to work in their home town. Needless to say, those self-same battles kept Markel busy for the next seven years, as they have kept the Chamber busy ever since. Traffic hazards and inconveniences, pollution problems, community needs: the Chamber has always been one of the first (and one of the loudest) to call a spade a spade. By 1950 the Chamber was fighting against a plan for greater commercial expansion of the railroad station area, hoping to limit Great Neck’s urbanization; it was fighting a move in Washington to cut back the appropriations for the Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy (it was believed locally at the time that a powerful seamen’s union was pushing for the cutback, wanting merchant marine officers to rise through union ranks); it was fighting for a federation of civic associations; and it was fighting for some rules and regulations which would protect prospective taxi passengers from the whims of drivers who just didn’t happen to feel like taking a passenger to Kings Point, or Great Neck Estates, or Russell Gardens, that night. In 1953, Markel proposed his craziest idea of all: extending Grace Avenue across Middle Neck Road to Walnut Street to funnel drivers and parkers off Middle Neck Road. “A Great Neck Plaza village hall should be built over the road cut,” Markel said. If anybody had dared to laugh Jess Markel out of town, they would have done it then. But when T.T. Wiley submits his 1970 traffic and parking survey to the Village of Great Neck Plaza this fall,

we’ll see who’s laughing now. When Markel stepped down from the presidency in 1953, Willis Bryant took over for him. During his 10-year tenure, the Cutter Mill bridge was finally opened, in January of 1955; two more parking fields were installed in the Plaza; the Chamber campaigned for cleaner streets and against consumer fraud; and it fought for widening Middle Neck Road. Leon Shanack followed as president in 1962. Under his leadership the Chamber warred against air pollution; helped with the Great Neck Regional Plan; fought the state sales tax; fought for more buses, for Great Neck signs on the Long Island Expressway, for extra beautification; instituted a Thursday retail night; and conducted a business survey. In 1966 Howard Friend took over the presidency, leading the Chamber to successful fights against closing the Third District Court here and against blacktopping the Great Neck Road mall; meeting with legislators to discuss business and industrial problems; participating in a State Department of Commerce shoppers survey; and still more parking fields. Arnold Prensky, who became president in 1968, obtained two more parking fields for merchants and shoppers. Under his leadership the Chamber has brought Metropolitan Transportation Authority chairman William Ronan out to Great Neck to talk turkey about his plans for the Great Neck railroad station area; it had strengthened its ties with the Great Neck public school system by holding a “job-in” for high school students, by conducting a student art show in Great Neck’s store windows, and by honoring Great Neck’s athletic stars; it has instituted a consumer affairs committee to protect local shoppers; and it pushed for the traffic study now being completed by T.T. Wiley. Now it is fighting for long overdue improvements on Great Neck Road. In short, the Chamber, 220 members strong, has continued in the grand old Markel tradition – and tomorrow is another day.

A Move Started to Revive Chamber of Commerce Here Business, Professional Men Meet to Map Plans for Active Peninsula Group

A

move to revive the long-inactive Great Neck Chamber of Commerce was launched on Monday evening at a meeting at the real estate office of R. A. White – I. G. Wolf when 14 businessmen met in response to an invitation by Mr. Wolf. Mr. Wolf explained that his request for the session was prompted by the fact that he believes that now more than ever before, there is a real need in the Great Neck area for an active and aggressive organization of merchants and professional men to consider the many problems in business life on the peninsula.

Resignation Tabled The entire list of officers elected when the chamber was formed in 1934 were incumbent at the time of the meeting. They are headed by Henry A. Swartley Jr., also president of the Long Island Chamber of Commerce. A joint motion of resignation from the officers was tabled pending a later meeting when new leaders will be named. I. G. Wolf was elected temporary chairman. A prolonged discussion as to the best and quickest means of returning the chamber to an active role in community life resulted in a decision to hold a luncheon meeting in about two weeks. At that time the president of one of the most active chambers of commerce on the island will speak on the current needs for such as association.

Money in Treasury A report, read by Dr. Louis T. Zaner, disclosed that the local chamber, although, long dormant, still has more than $250 in its treasury. It was agreed that the existing funds be held inactive until such time as the organization resumes its community functions. Among those who attended were Mr. Wolf, Mr. White, Geo. Djimos, I. T. McKnight, William A. Cass, Robert Palmer, Dr. Zaner, I. Lader, George V. Bullen, Cy Wilchyk, August Stevens and Willis A. Bryant.

Three Television Sets to Aid the Sustaining Fund

sing action as its “byword,” the Great Neck Chamber of Commerce on its record during the past year has become the most important organization in the village. To keep it at its peak production, a Sustaining Committee has been organized with J. Edward Breuer and James K. Ryan as co-chairman, to assure continuance of the Chamber’s ambitious program. As the many activities have taxed the budget of the organization, this new committee has decided to invite all residents and merchants to lend financial assistance by awarding three television sets at a drawing Saturday evening, July 31, at the Playhouse Theater. The proceeds of this drawing will help the Chamber to defray expenses which will be incurred during the continued efforts of this unit to make greater Great Neck the finest of suburban villages. Jesse Markel, president of the Chamber of Commerce, summed up the situation after a conversation with a friend: “Recently, a friend of mine, whom I have known for many years and whose friendship I value very highly, said to me “Jesse, it is my considered judgment that next to the church or synagogue of any resident of Great Neck, the most important organization of men and women in this community is the Great Neck Chamber of Commerce.” He then went on to say that the organization’s past and present program for community improvements

merited the financial support of our neighbors.” “I took the occasion to advise my friend that the Chamber’s fast expanding and very ambitious program of activities had taxed the organization’s budget to such an extent that the recently appointed Fund Committee had decided to invite all those who benefit to support the program. This committee, headed by J. Edward Breuer and James K. Ryan, co-chairmen, and consisting of Irwin R. Browner, Willis H. Bryant, Ambrose Bullen, Robert N. Palmer, Robert J. Rose and Louis T. Zaner takes the view that the business and professional men and women, as well as the residents of Great Neck, are interested in our achievements. These include, among many other items, our efforts for the establishment of conveniently located parking lots for shoppers, improvement of conditions on the Long Island Railroad, better U.S. mail deliveries, and the preservation of the suburban atmosphere of Great Neck.” The Sustaining Fund Committee has decided to award three television sets, through a drawing at the Playhouse Theater on Saturday evening, July 31. These sets – an RCA, a Philco, and an Emerson, will be drawn for separately and include installation and one year’s guarantee. Tickets may be purchased at local stores and offices bearing the legend “For Sale Here – Shares For the Television Sets.” In the immediate future the sets will be placed on display in the windows of the three local radio stores at which they were purchased.

Village Is Praised for a Good Snow Removal Job by Markel

L

ast week’s heavy snowfall found Great Neck prepared and ready to dispose of it in short order, and streets in this area were cleared efficiently and rapidly. In other communities, the main streets were in deplorable condition for several days after the storm, and side streets were worse. However, in Great Neck, many side streets were cleared down to the macadam almost immediately after the storm, while the main streets were suitable for traffic the day after the storm. Business men in this area were well pleased with the rapid disposal of the snow, and this week the Chamber of Commerce, through its President, Jesse M. Markel, were loud in their praise of the authorities responsible for the removal,

T

particularly in the Village of Great Neck Plaza, and sent a letter of congratulations to Mayor Frederick Uhl of the Plaza. The letter reads as follows: “Personally, and on behalf of my fellow directors, I wish to express to you and your fellow trustees our sincere appreciation for the splendid snow removal job immediately following the recent severe snowstorm. The results achieved indicated thorough preparation and fine coordination of efforts. “Several merchants have stated that maintenance of parking meters i n o u r bu s i n e s s a r e a m a y h ave some drawbacks, the fact that the revenue derived makes it possible to promptly and efficiently clear our streets of snow far outweighs any real or imagined disadvantages.”

1948 Year End Chamber Notes

he Chamber of Commerce did a fine job of decorating the streets for Christmas, and some lucky shopper will win a new Mercury sedan Friday night as part of the Christmas campaign. All in all, 1948 was not too eventful, and as we said before, our tragedies were few and our fortunes were good. The area is growing by leaps and bounds, business is better than usual for most people, and we could say that 1948 was a happy year. And so, as we go into a new year, let’s hope that our region will prosper and that our people will be happy, contented and healthy in 1949 and for many years to come.

Commerce Chamber Demands Investigation: Praises Mayors

Snow Removal Job in Plaza and Old Village Praised: Markel Wires Dewey About Train Service

T

he Chamber of Commerce yesterday handed out bouquets and brickbats, the first for speedy handling of snow removal in Great Neck, and the second for the Long Island Railroad’s breakdown of service. Mayor Fred Uhl of the Plaza and Mayor Willis Bryant of the Old Village received letters of commendation from the Chamber and Governor Thomas E. Dewey received a telegram urging an investigation of the LIRR. The telegram, signed by Jesse M. Market, the president of the Chamber, was sent on Dec. 31 and read – “The people of Great Neck urge you to order an investigation of the deplorable and chaotic conditions on the Long Island Railroad. Five days after the storm the 4:55 train from Penn Station, on which I was a standee, made the run in two and one half hours last evening.” In the letter, John E. Gannon, executive secretary of the Chamber, told the mayors that a motion had been unanimously carried at the Dec. 29 meeting of the Chamber “expressing the approbation of the fine job of snow removal, which was carried on in your village under your direction.” The letter continued, “The directors feel that you and your subordinates richly deserve the unstinted praise which was expressed at the meeting.”

Carousel Map Location No. 4

G

reat Neck’s Carousel Restaurant has a great gimmick – a refrigerated conveyor belt, or kaiten, that winds around the tables from which diners choose appetizer-sized portions of a wide variety of dishes. It’s a clever concept, one that’s been popular in Japan for years. But Carousel is not just a one-trick pony, it has a lot more going for it, like an extensive Japanese menu featuring excellent flavorful, fresh food, and a Hibachi, where you can either sit and watch the chef at work right at your table or have the food delivered to you in the dining room. Hibachis are the “in” place for parties and get-togethers, and Carousel is a perfect venue for such celebrations. From Smoked Duck Breast to chicken, shrimp and filet mignon, the extremely tasty hibachi food here is first-rate (plus they have garlic butter fried rice!). Everything’s interesting and unique about Carousel. Owner Emi Ho has an adventurous perspective that pays off big time. For grown-ups there’s a winning Japanese Tapas menu (smaller versions of excellent dishes) and for kids, there’s a fun menu with specialized dishes where they can choose the shape of their rice ball or the style of their plate, like a car or rocketship. Even my hard-to-please teenage daughter found much to like here.. From Bento boxes and Gozen sets (multiple side dishes with a main entrée) to an economical prix fixe menu, there’s something for everyone. The Special Rolls are outstanding. We had the heart-shaped Sweetheart Roll, with its spicy mixed fish, caviar, seaweed salad and avocado wrapped with tuna and spicy mayo. The dish looked as stunning as it tasted. The King Crab Tuna Dumpling was amazing. The fresh tuna sashimi outer “dumpling,” filled with King Crab, kani, shrimp, tempura flakes, had a nice kick, only matched by its dramatic presentation on an illuminated plate. The Sliced Vegetable Tempura was served traditional Japanese style, all fried together in one delicious nest. I love the Tapas menu. It’s an innovative idea and a good way to try out different dishes. We ordered Fried Chicken in Garlic Flavor, bite-sized pieces of very crispy fried chicken that were wonderfully moist inside. The Spicy Teriyaki Spareribs had a gorgeous house sauce that was thick, gooey and bursting with deep flavor. The ribs were meaty and well cooked. The Teriyaki Salmon Grilled in Foil Wrap was also cooked to perfection, enabling it to keep its natural flavor as well as retain the delicious Teriyaki sauce flavor in which it was cooked. The Miso Black Cod, infused with the highest quality sweet miso, was succulent, tasty and served in a subtle

sauce easy to love. The delicious tangy, garlicky Sesame Chicken in the smartly priced Bento box came with a crisp salad, spot-on Miso soup, a remarkably tasty and crunchy California Roll, rice and two savory vegetable dumplings. Off the refrigerated kaiten we took a plentiful portion of chilled edamame, which the waitress heated for us at her suggestion, and several light, heavenly desserts, including Raspberry Mousse and Espresso Mousse Cakes. The terrific Caramel Apple Cobbler, a streusel-topped torte sheet with apples, butterscotch and caramel was a hit. The Carousel is not only Long Island’s only kaiten restaurant, it’s a must-visit hibachi, sushi bar, Asian Tapas restaurant and just all around fun dining experience. It’s certainly on my return-to list, and highly recommended. Location: 20 South Station Plaza, Great Neck, Website: www.CarouselNewYork. com, Phone Number: 516-304-5192. Price Range: $3.95 - $26.95

Our faculty understands that learning begins with questions; we teach our students how to make productive inquiries and develop intellectual curiosity. As Modern Orthodox Jews, our children are expected to strive for success as they live in and engage with the modern world while still being faithful to the religious teachings of our Torah and our sages. While our students are presented with the tools to succeed in the secular arena, we make sure they understand the benefits of living their lives as ethical, Torah Jews. We foster the means to provide our students with the understanding of the importance of commitment to Zionism. T HE ANNUAL GUIDE T O G REAT NECK GREAT NECK B USINESS DIRECTORY Temple Emanuel of Great Neck

(continued from page 29)

Map Location No. 25

T

emple Emanuel of Great Neck was founded on July 22, 1953. The fledgling congregation grew swiftly and a six-acre estate was purchased; a beautiful sanctuary was erected in 1959. In 1968, the congregation elected Rabbi Robert S. Widom, who was then on the staff of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations. He introduced creative educational materials and offered courses for both young people and adults that drew many to the synagogue. He remains senior rabbi at Emanuel, and in recent years has welcomed his associate Rabbi Louis Stein to share the pulpit, among others. A host of notable statesmen and authors of international repute have offered their views from the Emanuel pulpit: Abba Eban, Yitzhak Rabin, Amos Oz, Isaac Ba-

shevis Singer, David Grossman, Daniel Mendelsohn, Dr. Howard Sachar, Dr. Ralph Buultjens, among others. Along with Sisterhood, Brotherhood, Adult Education, a state-of-the-art nursery school and religious school that preserve Jewish group identity, synagogue leadership takes pride in the programs sponsored over the years by Religious Action: the relocation of Ethiopian Jews, and then Russian Jews, to Israel; raising funds for families of those who perished on September 11, 2001; and then, for those who were victimized by terrorism in Netanya. One of the arms of the Religious Action Program is the Nathan Ackerman Memorial Fund, which supports worthy organizations such as Save A Child’s Heart in Israel, Seeds of Peace in Israel, and Happiness Is Camping for children with cancer. Another arm of the Religious Action Program is the Kimmel Foundation; through its Affordable Housing program, it provides for the needs of senior citizens on fixed incomes, many of them already ensconced in its residential complexes in Westbury. As a Reform Jewish congregation, our mission is to maintain reverence for, but never bondage to, the past - 482-5701.

Turn Key Realty Interviewing and Hiring Your Broker or Agent When Selling Your Residential or Commercial Properties

Celebrating 25 years in Great Neck 1985-2010

Our Food is Fresh, Light, and cooked in the style of DARUMA.

I

t has always perplexed and amazed me as to the methods that a residential or commercial owner uses when they are thinking about or considering selling their properties. The following is the scenario that I have experienced as an investor and broker for the past 29 1/2 years! 1. The owners or FSBO’s (For Sale By Owners) price their properties based on what was either noted for sale in Newsday, The N. Y. Times, Wall St Journal or especially the internet listed and noted “Sold properties”) on, Trulia, Zillow etc. and other source they derive their information. Accuracy should be extremely important to you as an owner as well as it should be to the broker or agent who eventually lists and sells your properties. 2.) Buyers know that when you are selling on your own, they have already subtracted our commission and will make every effort to deduct whatever amount they deem necessary to get their best deal

Time is an important ingredient at DARUMA. All our foods are Prepared to order. The finest Sushi in Great Neck and we have the years to prove it!

accepted in this BUYERS MARKET!! Hiring a well qualified broker or agent is your best bet at hopefully getting your highest and best price with the proper marketing techniques and internet presence. 2. Listing price is generally NOT THE SELLING PRICE, UNLESS YOU PRICE IT AT THE MARKET OR BELOW!!! 3. Creating demand is in direct correlation to your asking (listing price) based on comparable sold properties, current market inventory of similar priced properties, under contract units, expired and withdrawn and released units!! This is the professional and only way that a knowledgeable broker or agent should be providing you the proper information in order to correctly and accurately begin pricing your property! 4. You as the owner should be asking the prospective listing broker or agent, what suggestions they would have in preparing and presenting your property in the best possible fashion so curb and interior appeal will be maximized to the Nines!!! 5 . Most important, ask how many years the individual has been in the business and what they have rented or sold and most important, whether they are considered a top producer during this current economic downturn. 6. Ask them what and how they will customize their marketing and merchandising plans and processes will be to cater to your specific property’s needs and wants and what would be the reasons to hire them over anyone else! 7.) Most Importantly, ask the brokers and agents, what is their internet presence for the Great Neck, Manhasset and Port Washington areas so when the purchasers, investors, prospective tenants and landlords search for your properties, they will find your specific property that will satisfy the purchasers or renters, needs and wants and you will get your property sold or rented in the most efficient and quickest time period. 8. Ask does the broker or agent have their own personal website to promote your properties 9.) How often will the broker or agent provide you feedback? 10.) What computer programs and software does your broker or agent currently include in their marketing and merchandising plans to not only to get your property out to the globe and also what programs are they currently incorporating in their business to provide you the owner with consistent and regular feedback as to the activity and progress about the sale or rental of their properties. 11.) What niche newspapers are you going to use to capture and effectively reach out to the new and existing market of consumers that are coming into your prospective towns and locations to find that one purchaser, investor or tenant for your residential or commercial properties. 12. Last but not least, ask your broker or agent how large their database of purchasers and renters are to see the potential
