ANTONY CRIBB Ltd. Arms and Armour Auctions Autumn Virtual Arms and Armour Auction Online Only Tuesday 9th November 2021 at 10am VIEWING - IMPORTANT: Strictly by appointment only. taff. John Coates has had a keen interest in antique guns from a young age. Brought up in Cardiff John and his Father regularly travelled to Bristol and its many antique shops, it was here in the late 1940’s he bought his first antique pistol. From that day forward his passion grew to include snuff boxes and fishing tackle. He was a keen trout flyfisher and wildfowler. Sadly age caught up with him and the days spent on a riverbank and out in the woods shooting came to an end. His passion for antiques never faded his wife always said he could never attend an antique fair without buying something. A keen artist John recorded his collection in watercolours, still kept by the family they are a lovely way to remember the times spent collecting and the joy it brought him.
