I obtained my Masters degree with the distinction ‘Cum Laude’ in the faculty of Architecture in Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands. Multicultural from my roots I seek solutions by juxtaposing my backgrounds, into my design process. I mainly develop programme free and open designs concepts. Furthermore I am interested in creating constantly provocative environments, everything outside of the ordinary, and the ephemeral, in architecture.

.01 eyzhn public bathhouse & aquaphobia rehabilitation centre final master graduation project prof.ir. J.D. (Juliette) Bekkering, J.J.P.M. (Sjef) van Hoof Stvanice island, Prague, Czech Republic 2014 This graduation project proposes a mixed use building for the Stvanice island, near the centre of Prague, Czech Republic. The efzin (well-being) of the ancient Greeks refers to the way of life that aims to improve the quality of human life in all areas. Located in an often flooded, forgotten fringe zone, which is redesigned as a recreational landscape of water and nature, the building strikes dominantly and rules its surroundings within a single gesture, opposing city versus nature. The strong connection between water and well-being guided the programme of the building which houses a public bathhouse and an aquaphobia rehabilitation centre, two contradicting functions which interact. Designed as a single extruded section, the goal was to create a challenging and constantly provocative environment between the love and the hate for water with various users, constantly interacting with each other. By superimposing four layers, the public bathhouse, the aquaphobia rehabilitation centre, the existing negrelliho railway bridge and a strict grid as a connecting factor, the building offers unique events through programmatic mixture.

.02 breda central station central station complex internship at architectenbureau Koen van Velsen Ing. J. (Jeroen) Spit, Ing. E.J. (Erik Jan) van Dalfsen Breda, the Netherlands 2013 Architectenbureau Koen van Velsen is a Hilversum based architectural office, renown for its sculptural buildings, elaborated down to the last detail. During my internship I worked on the central station for the city of Breda, the Netherlands, currently under construction. The excessive project cosists of the central international train station, central bus station, offices, appartments, retail, cafes, restaurants and a roof car parking. I worked on the construction drawings of floorplans, sections, ceiling plans, interiors and details, with a critical approach on structural and aesthetic conditions. I was responsible to guide the brick facade alterations, interior plan alterations and an independent elegant platform storage from design phase to construction drawings. Koen van Velsen is the official author of the work shown. Impressions are made by A2 studio.

.03 MAMA modern art museum Amsterdam Amsterdam Groot(s) master project prof.Dipl.-Ing. C. (Christian) Rapp, L. (Loes) Martens Beurs van Berlage, Amsterdam, the Netherlands 2012 The studio Amsterdam Groot(s) deals with the future of the large scale buildings in European city centres. The former stockmarket building “Beurs van Berlage” in the centre of Amsterdam was transformed to a Modern Art Museum. The true masterpiece designed by H.P. Berlage lost its glory due to its misuse.

existing condition 1
Instead of making one standard central museum routing, the idea was to split the building into five museums with different theme galleries and routes so that the visitor can choose the preferred gallery, instead of being forced to walk and see the whole route. Starting and ending point is always the central lobby-gallery.

emptying interior
The former trade rooms have been transformed into gallery spaces, each one with its own size and light conditions. The “back of the house” functions are located in the basement. Furthermore, the program consists of a restaurant, storage rooms, separate entrances, staff rooms, photostudio, library and a giftshop. The design of the lobby facade reflects the mix of the different routes.

.04 Heart of rotterdam hotel, student residence and cinema bachelor graduation project ir. A. (Anne-Marie) Peters, Sophie Rousseau D.P.L.G. Schouwburgplein, Rotterdam, the Netherlands 2011
site
For the final bachelor’s project we designed a hotel/student residence building combined with a conference centre, apartments, cinema, cafes and retail, in the heart of Rotterdam, at Schouwburgplein square. The idea of the urban scale was to design a building that would give birth to the city’s lost heart and renew the Schouwburgplein square. The challenge of this multifunctional project was to design 150 permanent hotel rooms and 350 student rooms transformable into hotel rooms during the summer. The goal was to design a central open lobby called “the heart”, connected with as many as possible spaces, where all the various users could meet each other. A dynamic/variational facade concept reflects the diversity of the different users and functions. It consists of various window patterns based on different aspects such as maximum light, noise buffering, view quality and interior function needs.

.05 CAMBOO bamboo concept house for the poor
1
base
Cambodia sustainable housing competition Pnhom Penh, Cambodia 2011 Camboo, is the answer to Cambodian’s housing problem for the poor, aimed to improve the quality of their life.
site plan/slum 2 bamboo structure
A sustainable framework is designed based on traditional bamboo detailing, specially adapted to Cambodian weather conditions. In-fill wallframes (2.4x1.2 m) will be made of locally available materials such as Bamboo Matt, Plastic, Bamboo, Wood, Corrugated Steel or Palm leafs, and can be adjusted to own taste and use. The choice of panel may be influenced by local availabillity, cost, light/ openness and function (in case of small shop or workspace). Camboo can be rapidly constructed on-site by utilizing the ready to assemble design or in massproduction. The roof has been raised above the living box to prevent water and sunshine to enter the living space. An extra living space is created by dividing the standardt living volume into two. The extra space/terras gives a luxurious feeling, space differentiation, privacy and offers room for new activities.
