Sabang Street Masterplanning

Group work

Graduate Studio 1

Project background:

Completed: July 2022

The main focus in this first graduate studio is street Sabang Street (Jl. H. Agus Salim) in Menteng, Central Jakarta was chosen because of its uniqueness as a legendary culinary area and considered to still have a lot of potential in economic activities. The main strategic issues that this project tried to solve are convenience for pedestrians, distribution of activities to the surrounding area, and optimization of Jalan Sabang as a pedestrian-only area

The method used in working on this project are literature studies on theories related to street, studies of similar typological precedents, then formulating design concepts and making a master plan. I actively contributed in every step and group discussions, as well as conducting site surveys, producing plans, illustations, and diagrams, and making final project report.

DESIGN PRINCIPLES

SITE PLAN

The result of the intervention to the area is a more walkable street and accomodating to street vendors in the area. We also prepared Jl. Sabang for pedestrianization for the coming years, following development of TOD in the area.

Lebak Bulus TOD Area Masterplan

Group work

Graduate Studio 2

Completed: January 2023

Project background:

Upon observation, Lebak Bulus has not been maximized in its role as a TOD area due to the lack of integration between MRT station and surrounding area within a 350m radius, making this MRT station seem to stand alone without supporting activities around it. Furthermore, pedestrian and cycling infrastructure around the MRT station also does not meet minimum standards. So this arrangement aims to make Lebak Bulus to be walkable and connected to surrounding neighborhoods

Intervention done includes rearrangements of land zoning and intensity, planning for activities around MRT station, and improving pedestrian ways and cycling paths

The method used in working on this project are literature studies on theories related to street, studies of similar typological precedents, then formulating design concepts and making a master plan. I actively contributed in every step and group discussions, as well as conducting site surveys, producing plans, illustations, and diagrams, and making final project report.

VISIONING
The land use of the Lebak Bulus MRT Station area and its surroundings does not support the development of the TOD area.

T-HUB

Block with the concept of T-Hub or Transportation Hub. Apart from being the southern end station for all MRT trips, it is also a link for functional activities on the north and south sides of the area. Improvements to integrated pedestrian and transit facilities are the main points in the T-Hub plan.

January 2023 | 17

Improvements of areas under Lebak Bulus MRT Station to create a walkable and easy to traverse area. Users’ needs for transit are all facilitated by the provision of waiting shelters, crossing facilities, and other urban furniture.

IPAL KIT Batang Outdoor Design

Internship work

Landscape • Facade design • DED

Project background:

In this project I mainly worked on outdoor design of the complex. I designed the plaza that acts as an entrance for this water treatment office complex area. The shape of the plaza is inspired by the flow of the water that is obstructed by stones. I also detailed nodes around the lagoon area and designed the security building.

For this project I also assisted in making detailed engineering drawings for facade design and section of the main building as well as the security building.

Tools:

IPA KIT Batang Outdoor Design

Internship work

Landscape • Outdoor furniture design • DED

Project background:

The aim for this project is to improve existing basic design for outdoor space that felt had not integrated with the overall concept of the area, which was ‘Flowing’. Hence the flowy, winding lines streamlined in the outdoor design. I designed the plaza in front of the main building with user accessibility in mind. This plaza has direct ramp access from the disabled parking and guiding block. Designing the plaza was quite challenging because of the contour of the site, but the height difference allowed me to explore multiple ideas.

For this project I also handled detailed engineering drawings for some aspects of the area, like canopy, facade design, and viewing bridge.

Tools:

The site location is part of the Kawasan Industri

Terpadu Batang (KITB) Grand Batang City which is planned as an integrated city.

Designed area: 2.1 Ha
