Storylights Year : 2018 Client : Thotpot Foundation. Medium : Watercolours and pens. Size : 8’’ X 8.5’’
About
The aim of this project is to revive indian traditional arts like godhari quilting by introducing it to children through story telling.
Brief.
To create illustrations for the 4 stories that were written by the children (6-11years old) of the RKSS (Ram Krishna Sarada Samiti). Since the final product and activity involves godhari quilting, the illustrations must act as a roadmap for the children and foundation women to follow.
Interpretation.
Godhari quilting is the process of piecing together bits of cloth (mostly waste), to form a beautiful patchwork. In order to achieve that language, I broke down the illustration to rectangular pieces as commonly seen in a godhari. After conversing with and studying, the artists, I was made to understand the shapes that easier to quilt and tried to stick to those shapes.
The Green Story Once upon a time there was a village name *HARIana. The beauty and the peace of the green surroundings pulled a number of people ,from far and wide ,to visit it. Tourists would come and have picnics amidst these surroundings. Hariana had a beautifully clear sea, big houses and lots of green trees. These flowers, fruits and trees became the pride and joy of the place. One day , A car came down the winding streets of Hariana. It travelled along the road, the big houses and the sea. They were looking for a picnic spot, but seeing the fishes and fruits they decided to buy a house and stay there forever. They spotted a mango tree and built their house under the big growing tree. They lived their lives eating fresh fruit , and enjoying the breeze. This is how Hariana brought peace to families. *Hari = Green
Mumbai Musings Year : 2018 Client : Graphiques by Raylynne D’sa Medium : Watercolours & pen Size : 43’’ X 26’’
Brief.
To create a Mumbai themed illustration as a wall hanging for a design class in Mumbai.
Interpretation.
To capture everything that speaks about the city I divided the elements into four categories. Architectural Icons : To give immidiate visual context. Eg: Gateway of India , Bombat stock exchange, art deco in Mumbai, etc. Features: To add in elements that are exclusive to Mumbai Eg: Bollywood, local trains etc. Quirks : To establish a connect with spectators Eg: Moral policing, animals amidst traffic etc. Fillers : Filling up the spaces to create the sense of over crowding and space crunch typical to Mumbai, and to weave the elements together Eg: Slums, stars, sea etc.

108% Indian Year : 2019
The cards with Initial packaging
Client : Thotpot Designs pvt ltd. & Coolture Designs. Medium : Photoshop Size : 6’’ X 3’’ X 3’’
Brief.
To create packaging for the Game 108% Indian. 108% is a set of thinkpack cards that uses indian quirks and superstitions to trigger a series of thoughts.
Interpretation.
The shape and size of the box was determined based on the volume of it’s contents (108 cards sized at 6’’ X 3’’). Since the tagline and the motive of the game, both, suggest triggering thoughts that aren’t apparent at first I wanted to incorporate a set of graphics that showed the same. Hence, the head splitting open idea was born, to signify that there is a lot going on in the mind that you can’t see.
Initial idea, using the turban to hide the surprise factor
From one of the oldest statues recovered from the Mohenjodaro remains
Inspired by the minimal traditional getup sported by Indian women
Studying Urban Voids Year : 2019 Group fellowship project with PUKAR (Partners for Urban Knowledge, Action and Research) Role: Research (group), Illustrations (solo) Medium : Watercolours, pens and Photoshop.
About.
Urban Voids are spaces that get neglected over the course of planning. These neglected and under maintained spaces often become breeding grounds for antisocial elements. Voids under highways, abandoned alleys are examples of such spaces. As a part of the fellowship program we studied one such void, with the aim of activating the space to benefit the surrounding communities.
Brief.
To design the brochures for the community awareness event to be conducted at the end of the fellowship Interpretation. The main idea for the illustration was to convey that even tucked away spaces have so much going on in them. The shadows become a very comfortable shield for things to happen outside the boudaries of the law.
Map of Hill Road, One of the many areas taken into consideration for the study
Art Festival of Ranwar Year : 2017 Group Project. Role : graphics*. Medium : Markers and pens Size : 23.5’’ x 33’’
About.
The project was about studying the Ranwar precinct of Mumbai , to restore its heritage status through a series of designs and policies.
Interpretation.
In order to increase the footfalls in the area we introduced the Ranwar festival to celebrate art, history, and food. The activities were designed to generate income for the locals after studying their present predicaments and plans. My primary role in the project was to create and oversee the graphic content. The map was created in this way to add to the rustic charm of the place while allowing the locals and visitors to recognise the various establishments along the way. *The maps have been created by me, the circled out graphics have been illustrated by Ar Sayali Lamne.
JK Express Mural Year : 2019 Client : The Little Details (interior design studio) Medium : Chalk and Paint Size : 10’5’’ X 3’8’’
Brief.
To create a mural for the conference room of the JK express office, which must feature their main source of trade : the carriers, and not occupy more than 1/3rd of the wall space. The colour palette comprised of yellow, white and black.
Interpretation.
Since the site was a conference room , a highway like arch shape was employed to avoid getting in the way of the furniture. The design was kept rather simple with basic shapes because the surface for the mural was a corrugated metal sheet. In the places where the lines did not look continuous because of the uneven surface, textures and details were added to celebrate that language.
Vrivyaa Year : 2019 Client : Vrivyaa LLP. Medium : Pen and ink.
