LIVE BRIEF WITH DYSON
SUMMARY OBJECTIVE Hand sanitizer can often be forgotten about in a busy schedule and can be difficult to reach for in bags while in a commute, adding to the user stress. The aim is to design a product that would make hand sanitisation more convenient to use and efficient during a hectic commute.

IDEATION FORM DEVELOPMENT SKETCHES In accordance to brand’s values and design language, the final look was inspired by simple forms and multifunctional solutions. Sketching process explored the aesthetic of different geometric shapes alongside Dyson signature colour palette.
PROTOTYPING IN LOCKDOWN EXPLORING SHAPES WITH FOIL As the project was taking place in lockdown, prototyping process was limited to at-hand materials. It was crucial to test out how different shapes feel in when being held in the hand. For this, cooking foil was used, bent and stacked into the desired shape.
HOW IS IT USED? HAND SANITIZER BUT BETTER To set up the timer, the button on the back is pressed 5 times, To spray the disinfectant, two buttons on the sides are pressed at the same time. The installation of two buttons makes sure that accidental clicks are avoided. The product is reusable, as it is only the matter of filling up the capsule with the storebought liquid sanitizer.

The colours are chosen based on the the research of School of Environmental Sciences, University of Hull. Neutral colours not only attract more birds, but also fit the modern trend. HDPE is a great material for bird-feeders thanks to its low temperature toughness, chemical resistance and durability. Recycled HDPE can be easily recolored to meet the desired results. Drawing inspiration from natural colouring of spotty egg-shells, natural surface finish is achieved by mixing different coloured recycled HDPE pellets.

BRAND MARK
hatch
BRANDING TAKING INSPIRATION IN NATURE The name came from the inspiration for the product – a hatching egg, which can also be traced to the packaging, the spherical shape of the bird feeder resting in post-consumer shredded cardboard reminiscing an egg in a nest. The design of Hatch is focused on providing the best user experience, giving people room to explore different ways to use the product while providing supplementary feeding for birds in a functional and aesthetical manner.

MARKETING UTILISING SOCIAL MEDIA Instagram and Tik tok would be the main sources of promotion due to the 800 million active users online every day. Consumers observing influencers promote 'Bloom' as a product they utilise, will allow them to form a sense of trust and encourage them to purchase and promote the product as well, creating a circle of endless promotion whilst providing feedback to improve the product further.
HOW IS IT USED? BRIEF USER GUIDE Bloom is controlled by using the app as well as by interacting with the physical product. Tasks and plants are set up on the app (02, 03); upon task completion, the user taps the screen to indicate task as done (04). The virtual plant will slowly grow as tasks get completed. The duration of every plant growth period is depended on the number of tasks set. Bloom has multiple screen options that can be changed by swiping on the screen (05). The options include: Virtual plant, Clock, Standard Lamp, Task Lists.
