PROGRAM GUIDE

AUSTRALIAN AND NEW ZEALAND COLLEGE OF VETERINARY SCIENTISTS

PROGRAM GUIDE

Welcome to Science Week 2019! Science Week is the premiere scientific meeting in Australia and New Zealand and provides an excellent opportunity to seek out cutting edge science across a wide range of disciplines, including (but not limited to) cattle medicine, medicine and management of laboratory animals, anaesthesia and analgesia, dentistry, oncology, dermatology, ophthalmology, radiology as well as the perennially popular “larger” groups of surgery, medicine and emergency and critical care. I have been attending Science Week for many years now and for me it has always been an exciting place to wander between sessions and be stimulated by a rich cross-section of learning. I always enjoy catching up with Members and friends from across our diverse profession. This conference is the College’s flagship education event and it would not be possible without the contribution and hard work of the twenty Chapters who have put together this leading and dynamic program under the guidance of Science Week Scientific Coordinator Dr Wendy Goodwin. Thank you also to the College Science Week Committee who worked tirelessly over the past twelve months to deliver this cutting-edge conference at a new venue. This year we also enjoy improvements in electronic delivery of proceedings and scheduling and an exciting program of social activities to supplement your learning. I’m looking forward to meeting you during the conference for what will be three days of great learning, connecting and fun.

Greetings from the Science Week Committee Chair On behalf of the Science Week Committee, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Gold Coast for ANZCVS Science Week 2019! We are delighted to bring Science Week to its new, state-of-the-art venue, The Star – Gold Coast, where global experts from the veterinary field will present, discuss and explore cutting edge topics in veterinary science and veterinary research. I would like to thank every Chapter convenor for their contribution to the scientific program which has produced a rich and diverse array of expert speakers covering a breadth of exciting topics. This year we are thrilled to showcase our largest industry exhibition to date, and encourage all delegates to engage and connect with our valued exhibitors who have helped make this conference possible. We are also excited to introduce some new initiatives this year including our sold-out complimentary breakfast sessions, two College plenary presentations, conference app and conference bag. This year delegates will also have access to centralised conference proceedings to help make the most of their conference attendance. I would also like to thank each and every member of the Science Week Committee who have made this event possible. It’s been a fantastic year working together to deliver this cutting-edge event.
