CONTENTS The Introduction About Lara Land Yoga For Children: Photo-spective Introducing: Chloe The Yogi About Chloe The Yogi Contact
INTRODUCTION It was teaching kids yoga classes in India and Rwanda, that exposed Lara Land to the possibility of developing interactive yoga programs for children. Ashtanga Yoga instructors can only obtain the blessing to facilitate their own practice after training with the Guru in India, and as Lara’s evolution into being an official yogi commenced in India, returning to the United States opened the door to Lara’s yoga program in Brooklyn. It was during that time, that Lara conceived the idea to write a fun and interactive children’s book, infusing yoga poses and concepts to engage children from all walks of life. The introduction of ‘Chloe the Yogi’ and launch of the first in the children’s interactive book series, are a result of Lara’s efforts in creating comprehensive community yoga programs both in and out of the studios. Additionally, mini-camps and kids yoga classrooms facilitated by instructors under the Chloe The Yogi children’s yoga company and brand.
ABOUT LARA LAND Her creative savvy is a big part of the value that drives the programs Lara Land has been developing in the Yoga Industry. An authorized Ashtanga Yoga teacher and founder of the ‘Chloe the Yogi’ Children’s Yoga Company and brand, her commitment to betterment and wellness has allowed Lara to be hailed as a pioneer within her niche. Now
two years after launching her
yoga studio in the multi-cultural
dynamism of the new Harlem in
New York, Lara is proud to launch
the first book series and mobile
application for ‘Chloe the Yogi’. Raised in a very supportive
Jewish community, Lara was
nurtured by a first generation
American-German father and an
eastern European maternal family
in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. In
addition to transforming her home
into a theater before being given a
proper chance to perform, Lara’s
love for creating was channeled
through frequent journaling,
storytelling and dancing during
her early years. Her passion for
the performing arts opened the
door to pursuing a BFA in Theater Studies, at Boston University. While in college, Lara developed a stronger sense of how her performing skills could uplift lives. She wrote and produced a one woman show about ‘Body image’ for her thesis which she eventually performed off Broadway in New York. It was also during that time that she became more aware of ‘movement’ and the connection between the body, the breath and emotions via Alexander technique and yoga. As she became more serious about the practice of yoga, it wasn’t long before she was on a plane to become an authorized as an Ashtanga yoga teacher. That in nutshell, is how yoga found her. Lara continues to travel to India to study with the director of the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute and has developed yoga treatment for HIV positive women and children in India and Rwanda. She is the proud recipient of the Birthright Next Grant which funded her original program ‘Yoga for the Jewish New Year’ and has been invited to teach at numerous prominent private schools and yoga studios within the tri-state area. A current resident of Harlem and active member of the Harlem Park to Park Business Alliance, Lara became compelled with the need to launch a studio in Harlem while growing her practice in Brooklyn. After mediation one evening, the lingering urge to solicit advice from one of the local business incubators lead to meeting the real estate agent who convinced her that her studio could work. Nine months later, Lara’s very first yoga studio, Land Yoga, was launched in Harlem, June 2011. Land Yoga’ s success and profitability margins surpassed the industry standards within six months of launching the business. It is a true testament to Lara’s business savvy and creative thinking.
